By now, it’s already stale news that I love K-dramas with serial killers, psychopaths, and sociopaths so much. No! Don’t give me that judgmental look, I am definitely not one (I cross my heart), it’s just that these series have the best plot twists in K-dramas (wait till we get into it and you realize I am right) and I can’t resist them!
As the recommendation guru that I am, why should I leave these dramas out of my list? You see no reason to, right?
So let’s get into it and talk about the serial killer part. Here are 5 K-dramas with serial killers that will blow your mind and keep you glued to your seat.
Synopsis: Baek Hee-sung (Lee Joon-gi) is a man who hides his identity and past from his wife Cha Ji-won (Moon Chae-won), a detective. On the surface, they appear to be the perfect family: a loving couple with a beautiful six-year-old daughter who adores her parents.
This should probably be on your watch list already because it was quite popular. However, if it’s not and you want to experience a roller coaster of emotions, then this should be your go to serial killer drama. This was one unpredictable drama that made me scream, cry, curious and anxious simultaneously. Realizing who the serial killer is is another part that will blow your mind.
Synopsis: This drama is about a criminal profiler who struggles to determine the behavioral patterns of serial killers.
Unlike other dramas with the presence of one or two serial killers, this series presents a case of 5 different serial killers in 12 episodes and it was nothing short of amazing. The events of the stories are actually based on true events so you want to bring all the seriousness you can gather while watching this series and get ready to be creeped out (Although you might not if you enjoy serial killer series too much). Also, this series is one that will take away your sleep because every step of the way, your curiosity to know the next event will always take the better part of you.
Synopsis: The series is about Noh Ji-wook (Ji Chang-wook), a prosecutor, and Eun Bong-hee (Nam Ji-hyun), a prosecutor trainee, and how they work together on a mysterious case involving a sly psychopath murderer. They find out how deeply connected they are by their past. A forgetful killer can be a dangerous thing.
Imagine working with someone and you have to suspect them or you are in a tight position that may hurt them. That was the case in this series. However, this drama was a romance story with a sprinkle of a serial killer (yes, like a salt or spice). It was a romance story that needed a crime theme for its development and were they able to pull it off? In the most scrumptious way (I know it’s not food). This is my favorite of all because I get to see my two favorite themes (romance and serial killer). Worth every bit of my time.
Synopsis: Go Se-yeon (Park Bo-young) is a beautiful prosecution lawyer at the top of her game, and Cha Min (Ahn Hyo-seop) is her friend, an unattractive but rich heir to a cosmetics empire. They are both revived into different bodies by supernatural beings using an "Abyss" after their deaths in separate incidents.
Abyss is another romance-serial killer series you will love, and as a matter of fact, with a tad bit of superpowers. It gets more interesting when the superpower intervenes with the order of things. In this series, you don’t have to do detective work as it is rather straightforward for the audience, however; you need to dust off your curiosity feelings as you will definitely need it.
Synopsis: The series follows the story of ordinary people who have unfairly become victims of different crimes, their perpetrators, and those who try to catch the perpetrators.
There’s no way I am getting over the plot twist in this series. It was amazing, surprising, and at the same time creepy. From the first episode to the last, I was filled with anticipation and it was all worth it at the end. If you’ve not seen this, you are missing out on a lot.
If you are the type who gets creeped out by serial killing themes, then these series are not for you. However, if you are just like me, a sucker for such a series, then you want to have these series on your watch list.
Which one have you watched and which will be the next?
