If K-Drama Characters Were Bible Characters

If K-Drama Characters Were Bible Characters - featured image

By now, you’re probably wondering what’s wrong with this writer, but listen, before you clutch your pearls, this is not blasphemy. It’s just me looking at my Bible, watching K-dramas, and realizing some of these characters would’ve fit in those stories a little too well.

Like, what are the odds that K-Drama vibes inspirations don’t come from the bible as well? Let’s just imagine.

King David as The Male Lead

Bible Characters as Kdrama Characters

You know how every K-Drama male lead starts as a brooding, misunderstood guy who’s secretly soft inside? That’s giving shepherd David energy. Shepherd boy by day, harp player for King Saul by night. That “I’ll fight Goliath with a stone” level of boldness, just tell me that doesn’t scream “Chaebol heir who doesn’t want the family company but will start his own company and eventually conquer, anyway.”

Queen Esther as The Female Lead

Bible Characters as Kdrama Characters
You already know the tea, K-Drama female leads love being ordinary girls who suddenly step into royalty (sometimes literally). Esther was just minding her business until, boom, Queen Vashti ate some nuts that made her allergic to humility, and queen Esther’s shine came. That’s basically every Cinderella meets CEO storyline. If Esther were in a K-Drama, she’d be running a ramyeon shop or attending to a convenience store before being dragged into palace politics.

Peter as the Comic Relief Best Friend

Bible Characters as Kdrama Characters
If Apostle Peter were in a K-Drama, he’s the goofy best friend who talks too much, swears he’ll never betray you, and then denies you three times in one night (So much for the talk). But he’ll cry about it and get redeemed in the final episode, so you forgive him, and that will be some classic second lead behavior.

Samson as the Action Hero

Samson is straight out of a thriller. With his long hair, bad temper, and one mission (in other words, disobedience), he destroys the Philistines but kills himself too. Sounds like a K-Drama gangster who only softens for the female lead, and the moment Delilah cuts his hair? That’s the episode 12 cliffhanger.

Mary and Martha as the Ultimate K-Drama Sisters

Bible Characters as Kdrama Characters

You know those drama sisters who love each other but are total opposites? (Our Unwritten Seoul, I am looking at you) That’s Mary and Martha. Mary would be the sentimental, slow-motion K-Drama lead staring at the male lead’s face during a ballad OST. Meanwhile, Martha is in the kitchen, rolling her eyes like, “Girl, help me chop onions instead of daydreaming about Oppa.” Their whole dynamic is giving the slice-of-life K-Drama sitcom energy.

Judas as the Chaebol Uncle

Bible Characters as Kdrama Characters
Every chaebol drama has that uncle who’s the one plotting in the background, smiling in family meetings, then stabbing you in the back for stock shares. That’s Judas. He’s the boardroom snake who sells out the hero for thirty pieces of silver and then regrets it when it’s too late. If Judas were in a K-Drama, he’d definitely be wearing those round glasses and whispering to shareholders to take his side.

Bible characters and K-Drama characters aren’t that far apart when you think about it. Both worlds thrive on sacrifice, betrayal, redemption, and a dash of melodrama. The only difference is, in K-dramas, someone always gets hit by a truck. In the Bible, it’s usually a chariot, you get?

So tell me, if you could cast any K-Drama character into a Bible story, who are you picking first?
