K-DRAMA SIDE COUPLES WITH THE HOTTEST CHEMISTRY

What do you think about K-Drama side couples?

I think they are cute and they make dramas more interesting. But I also think there are certain K-dramas where the side couple’s stories are more interesting than that of the first lead, or if the side couple's stories get developed, it could outshine that of the first leads. Do you agree?

If you’re still in doubt of this claim, here are 5 K-Drama side couples who killed the show, and could pass for the first lead couple.

Seo Dan (Seo Ji-hye) and Gu Seung-jun (Kim Jung-Hyun) in Crash Landing on You

Although we were all captivated by the first lead love story in this popular K-Drama, Seo Dan, and Gu Seung-jun were another couple that kept our interest throughout the K-Drama. For one, I was rooting for their love and I almost cried a river of tears when Gu Seung-jun died. If the spotlight was on them in the K-Drama, I believe they could have aced the role of the lead couples as well.

Sunny (Yoo In-na) and Grim Reaper (Lee Dong Wook) in Goblin

Speaking of the romantic parts of this sensation-making K-Drama, it was really hard to choose a favorite couple. The connection between Sunny and the Grim Reaper was both cute and heartbreaking, and that they ended up together despite all odds was amazing. Who else watched the K-Drama ‘Touch My Heart’ just to see the two of them act together as the main lead?

Jin Yeong-seo (Seol In-ah) and Cha Sung-hoon (Kim Min-kyu) in Business Proposal

I knew the love story between the ‘Business Proposal’ side couple was going to be an interesting one from the scene where they met. The chemistry was topnotch, I must commend, and if the first leads were not in the picture, they could have earned all the spotlight. I hope we get to see the two of them leading a romantic K-Drama soon.

Seo Dae-young (Jin Goo) and Yoon Myung-Ju (Kim Ji-won) in Descendants of the Sun

The ‘Descendant of the Sun’ side couple is arguably the most underrated side couple in the existence of K-Drama. I know we all love the Song-Song couple and the fact they married after the K-Drama. However, speaking of the on-screen romance, I prefer the second lead romance. Don’t get me wrong, of course. The first lead did their thing, but, placing each romance side by side, the second lead romance could pass for the first with a little development.

Kim Joo-man and Baek Seol-hee in Fight for My Way

The relatable side of the second lead romance story in ‘Fight for My Way’ is one reason this side couple deserves all the attention they get. I mean, they brought out the struggles in a long-term relationship and kept us on our toes while rooting for their love alongside the first leads’ own

While these K-Drama side couples above could pass for the role of the main leads, here are some other side couples who I think are just perfect for their role as a side couple

Goo Shin-joo (Hwang Hee) and Ki Yu-ri (Kim Yong-ji) in Tale of the Nine-Tailed.

Yang Cheol (Kang Hong Suk) and Bong Se Ra (Hwang Bo Ra) in What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim.

Hong Seong-pyo (Jo Bok-rae) and Sa Wol (Joo Hyun-young) in Story of Park’s Marriage Contract.

Kim Myung-jin (Lee Tae-sun) and Jang Ga-ram (Pyo Ye-jin) in Our Blooming Youth.

Do you now agree with me that some side couples can also play the role of the main couples?

Do you think any other K-Drama needs to be on this list? Tell us why you think so. I am eagerly waiting for you in the comment section.
