K-drama genres seem to be changing with the season, and we are here for it. Our cold nights are about to be warmed with blankets wrapped around us for a marathon drama binge-watching session.
Here are the list of K-dramas set to air this October;
Genie, Make A Wish – Premieres October 3 (Netflix)
The legendary reunion of Kim Woo Bin and Suzy after the heartbreaking ‘uncontrollably fond’ will be drawing a lot of fans to the screen as they deliver a fantasy rom-com about a millennia-old genie, Kim Woo Bin who is full of several emotions, and Suzy, who lacks emotion. She gets him pulled out of the lamp and is given the opportunity to make three wishes.
Would You Marry Me – Premieres October 10 (SBS)
Choi Woo Sik must have his rent due with the back-to-back dramas, but who are we to complain? In this new rom-com drama, he teams up with Jung So Min, a subcontractor designer, in a fake marriage after her fiancé’s betrayal and fraud lease on their newlywed home. Woo Sik has the same name as her ex and he’s the only son of a family that runs a bakery with an 80 year history. For 90 days, they are to live as newlyweds, and we cannot wait to see how she deals with his subtle narcissist nature and rational mentality.
Typhoon Family – Premieres October 11 (tvN / Netflix)
For family drama lovers, this right here is perfect for you. Lee Jun Ho plays a young CEO trying to save his father’s small company during the 1997 financial crisis after living a carefree life. There he meets Kim Min Ha, who is the eldest daughter of her family, shouldering their burdens by working as a bookkeeper in the company.
Jun Ho, who made us swoon in 'King the Land,' is trading his chaebol sparkle for tougher corporate battles. We can expect lots of boardroom tension, bonding moments, and lots of rough moments.
Good News – Premieres October 17 (Netflix)
Taking us back to the 1970s, Sul Kyung Gu appears as a problem solver during a secret operation to land a hijacked plane. With an unknown identity, he meets Hong Kyung and Ryoo Seung Bun, a government official who commands the secret operation. This trio will be rocking our screens with tension, fire, and curiosity of the end game.
The Dream Life of Mr. Kim – Premieres October 25 (JTBC)
Ryu Seung Ryong owns his home and holds the position of department manager through his tireless effort to his company, but his life takes a turn and he loses everything in an instant. This new phase of life drags him through the journey of self-discovery. We might have to get our tissue boxes ready for this cycle of grace from grass to grace.
The Moon Flows in This River – Premieres October 31 (MBC)
Kang Tae Oh is back with a historical fantasy as he plays a wild and unruly crown prince but with a painful memory of losing a lover over a power struggle. Kim Se Jeong is a sly and witty peddler but is missing some of her memories. Their worlds clash, and they swap souls to explore each other’s different worlds.
Following Kang Tae Oh’s previous drama, he’s taking on a strong role that requires a double character, and we cannot wait to see how he plays it out with Kim Se Jeong, the queen of modern dramas.
October is indeed a month of contrasts: we’ve got fake spouses, historical heartbreak, corporate battles, and mystical soul swaps. There’s enough to go round for every taste, and the rich line up already promises a good time. Which of these October dramas are you adding to your watchlist?
