September kicks off a brand-new chapter in K-drama while giving us varieties of genres almost every day. We are in for a buffet-style watch list ranging from reconnection to con artists to political power struggles.

Here are the K-dramas set to air this September:

My Youth – Premieres September 5

Three years have passed since Song Joong-ki last appeared in a drama series, and now he’s returning as a former child star who now lives quietly as a florist and novelist and reconnects with his first love. Their reunion digs up past wounds but also brings them together as they go on the journey of emotional healing.

Queen Mantis – Premieres September 5

In this chilling crime thriller, a notorious serial killer dubbed "Mantis" is locked behind bars. A copycat surfaces, and her estranged detective son has no choice but to team up with her so they can stop the new killer. Jun Ji-hyun and Kang Dong-won will be leading this spy romance drama where a skilled diplomat and a mysterious mercenary cross paths while dangerous political conspiracies unfold. It’s packed with suspense and emotional twists as their two world collides.

We are going back to the 80s to witness the story of two young women, played by Kim Da Mi and Shin Ye Eun, who work as bus guides and chase their dreams and their first love. The drama promises a vibrant and youthful story, friendship and a growth bond with a sprinkle of bittersweet moments.

Life drags a former master negotiator, played by Han Suk Kyu, currently running a chicken shop, back to his first choice of work. He starts helping people in desperate situations with his talent combined with comic situations and wittiness in unexpected ways.

Life doesn’t end with one’s background. Three women played by Lee Sun Bin, Ra Mi Ran, and Jo A Ram from modest backgrounds prove this as they chase big dreams through coin investment. These big dream ambitions rub off on the male lead, Kim Young Dae, who isn’t happy with life even if he has everything, as he begins to draw inspiration from Lee Sun Bin.

Walking on Thin Ice – Premieres September 20

Lee Young Ae plays a devoted housewife that is desperate to pay for her terminally ill husband’s treatment. In her quest, she stumbles upon billions in drugs and what begins as survival becomes a dangerous plunge into crime.

After struggling in an orphanage, Hyun Min Cheol, played by Ji Hyun Woo, becomes the president. With only 67 days until inauguration, he wants a divorce from his wife, Cha Soo Yeon, played by Eugene, who has been waiting to be the first lady. This tension breeds political conflicts, exhumes buried secrets, and involves lots of power play as they both clash.

The Murky Stream – Premieres September 26

Going back to the borders of Joseon, Ro Woon plays the role of a gangster with a hidden past who meets a principled and righteous woman played by Shin Ye Eun. They both get into a triangle with an upright government official who wants to clean the corruption of the border, and Ro Woon dominates. Of course, it will be chaotic and fun with a sprinkle of teary backstories.

Ms. Incognito – Premieres September 29

A poor female bodyguard played by Jeon Yeo Bin enters a contract marriage with a terminally ill chaebol heir. For three months, she must maintain her disguise while dodging those who want his fortune under the fake identity Bu Se Mi. With the genres being romance, crime, and a clever survival game, we cannot expect less of thrilling moments.

September is indeed a month with varieties. With all these dramas, there definitely will never be a starvation of choices and genres because there’s enough to suit everyone’s tastes. Which one would you be watching..?
