The ink drips smartly over here. Let me take you through the world of my imagination while riding on the letters😎 It's all fun in this corner.
We are back to the kissing scene, and we get to see a phone notification splitting them apart before their lips meet. The suspense in the previous episode already gave out a subtle hint that it would most likely be an unsuccessful kiss.
Ki Jun compliments his house’s interior out of awkwardness and rushes out of the room after wishing Han Deul a good night. The notification happens to be for a message from her mom, who wants her to attend the family meeting. This is the first time we will be hearing about her family. Meanwhile, Ki Jun runs into Na Rae at the elevator, where she’s on her way to see him with a bottle of wine in hand. He tells her he no longer lives in the house, so they should talk outside in a cafe.
Like the honest man he is, Ki Jun opens up about the swapping, and she asks if they are dating. He denies it, but it still doesn’t make sense to her. Funny enough, Jeon Man also visits Ki Jun in his house, only to find Han Deul there. What is this late-night entanglement? He subjects her to a series of questions about what is going on between them. He tells her Ki Jun is not usually kind to anyone because he’s overly responsible and doesn’t want anyone to be unhappy because of him. Downing the hot tea quickly, he leaves her with the things he brought as a gift and rushes out to ease her nervousness.
On the other hand, Ki Jun tells Na Rae that his relationship with Han Deul is like the square root of two. She proceeds to express her hate for the situation as an investor because the result is irrational. They both fight with mathematical terms, and she concludes that she and Ki Jun never had a chance. She tells him the green color is now sold out; he doesn’t understand, and she tells him to forget it, explaining that the wine is for someone else and takes her leave.
We are back to Grandpa nagging Grandma for his dinner. He complains about one being salty and the other bland. She tells him to season his own food henceforth, since they are now divorced, and leaves the room. Poor and tired Grandma slowly counts apron numbers to ease her anger and pain as she drifts to sleep.
Na Rae and Jeon Man run into each other, and she reveals she’s there for slate wiping and resolving everything. She asks if he’s open to drinking or has to give a 24-hour notice like the last time, but he tells her she’s welcome anytime, 24 hours a day. Hurrayyyy! They head to a stall where they drink and discuss their feelings. Na Rae reveals that the residual feelings she has are spite and not regret or lingering feelings, but she has decided to let it go. Giving him the wine bottle, she tells him to keep it until they have the chance to drink it. He plugs in an earpiece to the cassette for them to share a moment together before parting.
Back to our leads, Ki Jun places a call to check if the bed is comfortable, and she opens up about being the bigger coward for always avoiding the truth. She takes the lead and confesses that she would like it if their relationship were closer than the third scale now, and they were no longer in a gray zone. Ki Jun declares he will minimize the margin of error by collecting more data on her; what a mathematical romance!
The next day at the office, Dae Bok shares tasks with everyone, and they leave to carry them out as he chants motivating lines to root for them. Ah, Young and Han Deul plan to help Grandma get a divorce if it turns out Grandpa is having an affair, and luckily, she runs into Grandma in the area. Meanwhile, back at the office, Na Rae calls the Senior Managing Director, who is in a lunch meeting with Devilish Jeong Shin, because of the China approval that’s taking too long, and he tells her to reserve the talk for later.
Ki Jun and Jeon Man continue to trace Grandpa, who rushes out of the clinic like the other day. They end up finding out that Ms. Choi is a sewing machine vendor, and it’s not an affair. Grandpa finally gets to know about his wife’s divorce insurance and gets sad. Oh, poor man!
Back in the office, Dae Bok tries to create a bond with his wife and asks that they go for a holiday in Jeju, only to realize that his wife is in Jeju and he didn’t check up on her earlier like he should. Our poor ajhussi is trying his best to hold his marriage together.
Ah, Young meets our date pest, who recommends the Waltz dance for elderly couples because it’s easy to learn. She reveals her fear of unhappiness. He volunteers to be the one to call an ambulance first when she’s sick, badmouth her boss with her, and also listen to her vents, but she dismisses him as a player even though she’s touched by his words. They share some heart-fluttering moments as he catches her from falling.
At the other end of the town, Grandma opens up about the real reason for the divorce. She’s sick and doesn’t want to be a liability to her vibrant husband, who has been through a lot with his family and sick parents. She also requests that they pay out the insurance policy to Grandpa. Han Deul insists she gets the payout, but Grandma begs her to take it as a favor from her. Han Deul preaches that divorce makes the family ties void once she goes through it, even though she’s leaving for the sake of family, and that shook Grandma, even though she still wants to go ahead with it.
Back to Grandpa, he already knows Grandma has dementia, unknown to her. The trouble of getting the sewing machine she once sold to pay for his tuition fee is to help her fulfill her wish of seeing her machine once again, when the dementia first started. He reveals all the sacrifices Grandma had made for him in their married life and shows his wish list of what he wants to do for her. Grandpa ends up hooking Ki Jun and Jeon Man to help them move houses, and Ki Jun readily agrees even though Jeon Man clearly doesn’t buy the request.
The entire team marches in to help with moving, lighting up the couple’s faces. Ah Young sends a help signal to our date pest, whose name we finally know—Woong Shik! And he rolls in with his full energy and a speaker to blast music. She steals loving glances at him, and Han Deul smiles at their cuteness. Yippee! We get to see the hotel-quality blanket from Grandpa hidden in the closet, another point to prove he has Grandma deeply buried in his heart.
Ah Young and Han Deul find a jotter full of recipes and a nylon of labeled money envelopes in Grandma’s room and hand them over to Grandpa, who can’t help but turn emotional with the memories. He takes her to their new home, which is on the first floor this time around, and she compliments the ease of using a wheelchair. He jokes that it has to be easy because he’s the one who will push the wheelchair, and they both let out romantic giggles. Awwwnn!
Grandma gushes about the ease of cleaning the new house and the modern kitchen, happily as Grandpa watches her with a huge smile on his face. She complains about not knowing how to handle the equipment, and he tells her that she just has to learn—lovingly. Lastly, he unveils the sewing machine, and she rushes to try it, picking a thread and fabric from the set cabinet. Grandpa remembers the memories of her younger self cheering him on about studying and doing everything to support him by selling off her mom’s sewing machine.
She sews an apron, and Grandpa wears it instead, telling her not to go anywhere and live with him in the house because strangers coming together to share the good and bad is what makes them family, and thankfully, she accepts. She continues sewing while Grandpa cooks with a soulful romantic song playing in the background to make their moment more memorable.
The next day at the office, Dae Bok dramatically stamps a pass seal on Grandma’s application form as the team rejoices. With Han Deul’s belly growls, he offers to treat them to beef and also invites Woong Shik over—he truly deserves it! After rounds of unending toasts, they finally get to wash their stresses down with beer. They continue sharing affectionate and hilarious moments on the dining table till Na Rae walks in, tells them to all end the dinner, and go home because the task force is dissolved with immediate effect. On what grounds?
This episode is so emotional and full of reality. It shows the sacrifices and pain the couple makes for themselves out of love, even if it means hurting their personal feelings. There is no love without pain, but also no problem without a solution. At this point, it’s better to call the team relationship fixers because they have been racing to fix people’s relationships just to achieve their zero divorce goal.
In the coming episode, I would love to see more hits from the villain(s) and get the true intention of everyone involved. They are moving pretty fast to get their product launched, so the obstacles should shift from their clients to the parties who don’t want them to launch first.
