Zombie Dramas/Movies that Will Make You Cringe

Nigerians have a cordial relationship with dark humor and as a Nigerian myself, I can confirm this.

If you are wondering why I am saying this, I’ll tell you that Nigerians have a way of making a joke even out of the deadliest situation because if this is not true, tell me why a Nigerian will watch a movie or series based on Zombies and start wishing we can experience something like that in the country, and of course, other Nigerians will support him and they will turn it into internet banters.

Although this might actually be funny, sometimes it has me wondering if these individuals have watched some K-series based on Zombies. I mean, some of these series will literally make you pee in your pants you will never wish to experience something like that.

So if you’re in the category of people I mentioned above, here are some K-dramas based on Zombies that will make you rethink that stance.

Kingdom

Synopsis: The story follows Lee Chang, the Crown Prince of Joseon, who attempts to investigate the mysterious illness recently afflicting the King, only to find himself caught in the middle of a deadly epidemic ravaging the Kingdom of Joseon.

To be honest, ‘Kingdom’ is a relatable story about how a disease can go out of control (You know what I am talking about). Even though this series was terrifying, I think I enjoyed it a little too much.

Another thing to note is that this was a Sageuk Zombie drama, and I will say that’s a peculiarity.

Alive

Synopsis: The film revolves around a video game live streamer's struggle for survival as he is forced to stay alone in his apartment in Seoul during a zombie apocalypse.

For me, this movie is one of the best Zombie movies in Korea. I am putting it as the only movie here because the twist was nicely done, and it kept me on my toes all along, as I could not even predict the next event. I just had to follow the flow. If you watched the movie already, was it like this for you too?

All Of Us Are Dead

Synopsis: A high school becomes ground zero for a zombie virus outbreak. Trapped students must fight their way out or turn into one of the rabid infected. It was a normal school day for the students of a Korean high school until a student returned from the school's science lab, infected by an unknown virus.

Let’s talk about the title of this series first. It was indeed catchy that it made even non-Korean lovers watch this series (My friends), but it’s definitely not something anyone wants in the real sense.

Moving forward, talk about real nervousness and you’ll get it from this series. I was so nervous that I had to ditch the series for two days before picking it up again. Also, the actors ate their roles in this series and it was commendable.

Sweet Home

Synopsis: As humans turn into savage monsters, one troubled teenager and his neighbors fight to survive and to hold on to their humanity.

Dear Nigerians, I don’t think having to fight to hold on to our humanity is something you want in the country, right?

Let’s not even talk about the bloodshed or the awful and scary moments in the series. (Not me cringing again)

I understand that sometimes we want to see and try some new things but some things are best seen on screen alone and I think these dramas have informed us more than enough.

Which of these series have you seen? Or which zombie-based drama made you extremely nervous?
