Just like K-drama, K-pop undoubtedly has a large fan base. I mean, from OSTs to album releases, from singles to fan signing events and all things K-pop related, you will always find a large audience rooting for them and I will say this is not a surprising thing.
I have once talked about the reasons K-dramas will always maintain a large audience, and I pointed out some factual reasons most of us wonāt stop watching K-dramas, so for K-pop, here are the reasons its fan-base will never decline.
Just like K-dramas see new actors and actresses all the time, k-pop has almost a daily (exaggeration? yeah I know) debut of soloists and numerous K-pop groups, which is a win-win situation for all of us. I mean, we get to see new and exciting things all the time while also getting more from previous groups and idols. With new faces and songs, there is no getting tired of K-pop for anyone, especially the addicted lovers of K-pop, and there is a chance for more youngsters to actualize their idol dreams.
I know this sounds weird because we all know the Korean cancel culture is harsh and can be ruining, but hear me out first. Itās a fact that everything that has an advantage has a disadvantage, and vice versa, which means just as the Korean cancel culture can be highly disadvantageous, it has its own advantage. One of the advantages of this culture in the K-pop world is the fact that it allows for courteousness and carefulness on the part of the idols. Although itās not totally effective, Most K-pop idols are hardly found involved in scandals or scandalous behaviors to avoid staining their public image, which is why we are still in love with most of them. Letās just call this culture a kind of morality check.
PS: This point does not justify the harshness of the Korean cancel culture.
Just like K-drama, in K-pop, we are not listening to one thing repeatedly, whether itās from old K-pop idols or new debuts; everyone has learned the act of effective change, which is an advantage to the widespread of K-pop and the Hallyu wave at large. From album titles to different themes like friendship, family, and most especially romance (the much loved!), we are always getting more than enough, and our playlist keeps getting longer.
Letās talk about the face cards that never decline, K-pop idols are so fineeeeee!!! If we are all being honest, the major reason we are all K-enthusiasts is the beautiful and handsome faces we get to see all the time. As long as we are not tired of seeing these faces and they keep it up, thereās no going anywhere near extinction for K-pop.
I know I have talked about dynamism in lyrics, but I have also noticed that every debut, most especially group debuts, has a deep meaning behind their name or group and a purpose they hope to achieve, which can be so inspiring. Speaking of one of these debuts that really touched my heart was the 2024 debut of the first hearing-impaired group āBig Ocean.ā The fact that they hope to give hope to people like them is amazing, and I see people giving them loads of support, which is not even out of pity but because they deserve it.
Is there a reason you will always be a K-pop fan, and I did not put it here? Tell us about it in the comment section.
