Squid game Season 2 is out and every fan and anti-fan of Korean dramas is going bananas with the plot continuation, more tension, intrigue, new characters, games, and higher stakes added to the race for 45.6 billion Won ($31 Million). It's definitely more intense than the first season.

While we sort through the new characters, picking our favorites and who's likely to die next, it is impossible not to notice the newly added star-studded characters that feel like a gift wrapped in a gift.

Finding these familiar faces in the unlikely world of Squid Game, where desperation meets human morality, is simply unbelievable.

Here's a list of unlikely celebs that starred in Squid Game Season 2;

Im Si-wan as Myung-gi (Player 333)

Im Si-Wan is a member of the K-Pop boy group ZE:A and subunit ZE:A-Five. He joined the acting scene in 2021 in the historical drama, "Moon Embracing The Sun" and has since established himself in other successful projects like Unlocked, Run On, and Hell is Other People.

In Squid Game, he plays the role of Myung-gi; a cryptocurrency influencer down on his luck and with lots of debt due to a bad investment. He is currently on the run from his spiteful followers and pregnant girlfriend and hopes to win enough in the Squid Game to start all over.

Yang Dong-geun as Yong-sik (Player 007)

Yang Dong-Geun is a popular actor, singer, rapper, and record producer, and was on the popular Afrobeats single "BOLO". He might look like an average guy, but his portfolio isn't as he has been featured in movies and shows like Moving, Cheer Up, Bride of Haebak, Unpretty Rapstar, and so much more.

He plays the fragile mummy's boy, Yong-Sik who doubles as a compulsive gambler buried under a mountain of debt and joins Squid Game with the hope of hitting the ultimate jackpot. However, he ran into his mother, who joined the game secretly to raise money for him. Now, he must protect her while trying to stay alive in the game.

Jo Yuri as Jun-hee (Player 222)

Jo Yuri is a solo artist and former member of the K-pop/J-pop girl group Iz*One. After the disbandment of the group in 2021, she launched her solo career and has released award-winning hits including OSTs for dramas like Do You Like Brahms, The Law Cafe, See You in My 19th Life, My Lovely Liar and Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born.

She made her big screen acting debut in Squid Game as Jun-Hee, a young lady who entered the game after losing all her money to a bad investment by her crypto influencer boyfriend. She is also pregnant and has to navigate the physical and psychological torture of the games, make allies despite her obvious disadvantage, and stay alive.

Kang Ae-sim as Geum-ja (Player 149)

Acting Veteran Kang Ae-sim is a prominent figure in the industry, with notable appearances in major productions, solidifying her status as a seasoned star. She has starred in dramas like Wonderful World, Bad and Crazy, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, A Virtuous Business, and Rookie Cops.

She takes the role of Geum-ja, a stubborn and determined mother with the goal of making enough money to clear her gambling-addict son's debts. She often serves as the moral compass of the game and is ready to sacrifice her life for her son to survive the game.

T.O.P (Choi Seung-Hyun) as Thanos (Player 230)

T.O.P is a former Big Bang member and multiple award-winning rapper and actor. However, he went on hiatus after being sentenced in 2016 to 10 months in prison and 2 years probation for drug use and has kept a low profile since then.

He returned to the screen as Thanos, a drug-addicted rapper with smooth rhymes, psychopathic tendencies, and determination to win the squid games. However, while some criticize him for taking up a role that reflected his past mistakes, a lot of fans are cheering him on for his courage.

Squid Game season 2 really outdid itself by bringing in some seriously unexpected celeb power! From K-pop idols to hip-hop artists, who knew we'd see some of our favorite performers in such nail-biting roles?
