Drama Recap || The Divorce Insurance - Episode 6

Following last week's heart-stopping scene, we are back to see how Ki Jun and Han Deul handle the scary situation. The situation turns into a hilarious one as Hyeon Jae gives them instructions out of the blue while using a laser gun to control the tiger. Trembling, they follow it to the letter until Hyeon Jae takes a photo with his flash and shutter on, shifting the attention of the tiger back to them; oh my!

Frustrated, Ki Jun snatches the laser gun and flings it to the tiger's back, distracting the tiger completely as it chases after it. Taking the golden opportunity, they run for their dear lives. I mean, who wouldn't? Three grown adults whimpering in the dark forest wasn't something we prepared for, but, well! As long as they are safe.

While celebrating the tiger's photo with Hyeon Jae before they realize he's the husband that brought them into the situation initially. Thanking themselves for the tiger's escape, over joyous Hyeon Jae promises to do anything in the heat of the moment, , and they slide in his meeting Mi Rae as the favor they have, wiping off his smile immediately.

Back at the tent they saw previously, he serves them some beverages, and they comment that Mi Rae did the same, making them similar. Hyeon Jae admits they are not a regular couple because of their unusual appearances and chasing after unreal things. Persuading him that he never knows what will happen until he meets Mi Rae, he finally agrees to meet her, making them release sighs of relief.

Angry Jeon Man cuts their celebratory moment short, nagging them for not showing up after calling him all the way to the village. They narrate their tiger encounter, and Na Rae tells them to put more effort into their lies. Ignoring their result, she fires on about how they work on impulse without any strategy or plan; calm down, VP-nim.

Not backing down, she asks the reason he called the team to the village, and he slams her with the fact that he never included her. Ouch! Ah Young adds to the fire by asking why Na Rae's there, making it obvious that her presence wasn't needed. Jeon Man saves her from the tight corner and offers to take her back. She declines, and Ki Jun opts out to rest in his car. Na Rae shoots Han Deul some eye daggers as she returns Ki Jun's coat, clearly jealous of their relationship and curious about why he lent her in the first place.

Jeon Man flies into Ki Jun's car, he tells him to go back to Seoul, but he refuses flatly, making him ask if he likes him, and Jeon Man responds with, "That's why I came to spend the night with you." This bromance! Jeon Man voices out that he needs advice, and Ki Jun tells him to choose between friend, homo sapien, AI, or ex-husband mode. After a long silence, he chooses the fourth option.

Back at the accommodation, Na Rae asks Han Deul point blank if he likes hanging out with Ki Jun. Her angry voice fires the answer that circumstances put them together. Na Rae apologizes, and she jokes that Na Rae is good at apologizing quickly. She brags about being quick about everything from weddings to divorce and work.

Expressing that's why she hates knitting because it's slow, uneven, and rough, so she would rather go to get what she wants at a department store. We all know she's not talking about knitting, right? Han Deul insists on taking her time knitting and has no intention of giving up until she claims the green one for herself, rendering her speechless. Go girrllll!

Ki Jun opens up about his divorce to Jeon Man, clearly stating that it's over for him even if the other person still has lingering feelings. Jeon Man expresses his fear, and he tells him to come back for more advice if he still can't open the box after the season passes. Jeon Man agrees and tells him he will opt for the first mode by then. Ki Jun reveals that's the mode he has been talking to since; with a call of their full name, Ki Jun resets to default mode and zips his sleeping bag up. Ha ha! Back at the office, Dae Bok leaves work, and Mr. anonymous intruder strikes again, sending a new mail with his snail typing speed. What's he up to this time around?

The next morning, everyone gathers awkwardly at the accommodation, and Na Rae tells them to skip the greeting. Date pest blasts the command off with a high good morning greeting, holding a huge covered basket of breakfast.

Na Rae ruins the mood further by asking what's going on between the two friends; Ki Jun responds that they are elementary school friends, stressing the "ma'am" to maintain formality. Everyone melts at the tasty meal, and they clear the table in no time. Date Pest runs to bring more food happily, like a grandfather feeding his kids, and Mi Rae arrives to meet her husband in the village.

While hopefully waiting for them to finish up their talk, Na Rae asks what if divorce is what's inside the box when they finally open it. Everyone turns to give her a "Do you have to be negative?" glare. Ki Jun jokes that they will be made to eat fermented plaice and Napa cabbage wraps, sparking another wave of craving for the team.

Hyeon Jae quenches Mi Rae's little hope by mentioning he saw a tiger as soon as they met. That being the last straw for her, she leaves and demands a divorce ceremony. Sharply, Han Deul stops her, pushes her back to her husband, and urges them to discuss it like a married couple.

Taking the second chance, Hyeon Jae voices out that he wants her acknowledgement, so he pursues taking a picture of the tiger to prove they are real, while she reveals he made her lonely. They transfer their talk to the fermented Plaice and Napa cabbage wraps table while the team peeps from the stairs.

Mi Rae finally agrees to see the tiger's picture, congratulates him, and tries taking off, but Ki Jun bumps in and tells them to finish their food first because they have a lot to unravel. Ki Jun comes up with the idea of a continuation ceremony out of the blue to cheer them on as they continue their marriage, throwing the team into confusion.

Passing the ball to date pest, he organizes the ahjummas to pick out flowers, open the church, and get the ceremony preparation going in no time as the village head. They get a suit and wedding dress freely from the elders in the village, and the ceremony kicks off with everyone playing their parts perfectly.

With his unkempt beard shaved off, the groom welcomes his glowing bride. Date Pest gives a heartwarming speech relating their happiness to the crops and wishing them more resilience in their marriage. The wedding finishes with a rose shower, a photograph session, and a mini-party that got us confused about a divorce ceremony in the teaser.

Han Deul and Ki Jun watch the display from afar, and she states that uncertainty feels good in the sense that it makes one feel free and firm at the same time, and having a partner who can hold one when they feel lost is truly fortunate.

Na Rae invites Ki Jun for a dance, but he declines, and Jeon Man jumps at the chance with his awkward dance moves. She ends up matching his energy, making Ki Jun sneak a smile before glancing at Han Deul, who also exempted herself from the dance. The tiger commemorates the event with a loud roar from the mountain, making them pause for a while. The couple revisits their memories in the church, realizing they have more memories than they had actually thought. She warns him not to keep a beard because she cares about looks a lot.

After exhausting her energy in the dance session, Na Rae pulls back to a corner, and Jeon Man says she looks desperate for an escape. She asks for his help, he agrees, and she tells him to take her to a hotel within a 10m radius. Double-checking again as they walk to the hotel, Jeon Man confirms the continuation ceremony only costs 26,700 Won; she tells him to keep the 3,300 Won so they can spend it together at the convenience store.

Ah Young and Date Pest send Ki Jun and Han Deul away from packing the items, telling them they will finish it off. Meanwhile, Na Rae is bothered about the hotel having a three-star rating. Jeon Man tells her to pick the one at a 45-minute drive from them with a five-star hotel or go back to Seoul, and she settles for the three-star hotel.

Ki Jun and Han Deul visit a convenience store in the village, and she voices her disappointment at his answer to Na Rae's question in the morning. We get to see that the "What's going between you two?" question was actually for Ki Jun and Han Deul, and she had asked as his ex-ex-ex-wife. She didn't say the scenario to him, but he probably realized.

The conversation switches to what Christmas felt like when they were young, and she reveals it was always quiet because her parents didn't have a good relationship. He tells her to have a brighter one this year, responding with uncertainty. She sees a pay phone, and they rush to test if it works.

She makes a call to future Han Deul instead after finding out it's broken, asking if she succeeded. With a sharp turn and intense stares, the moment becomes heated between them. She urges him to call the future Ki Jun, which he does nervously. He tells him to remember that day and hangs up. Back to our dramatic couple, Jeon Man and Na Rae arrive at the hotel and head to their rooms directly opposite each other's.

Everyone takes their leave the following morning, and the receptionist asks Na Rae to rate them. She rates them five stars, and Jeon Man smirks after seeing the paper. Did something happen at midnight? Hehe! A tiger sighting post is mounted at the tiger scene with the shot taken by Hyeon Jae framed on it.

Back in Seoul, Ki Jun recites the Drake Equation as they drive to the office to estimate the probability of meeting extraterrestrials, which a scientist also used as the formula for meeting one's soul mate.

The probability falls to 0.00034%, and Han Deul dismisses the soul mate thing, but he counters that it's possible since it's not zero. Sneaking the not-a-zero line in, he stops the car at the traffic light and asks if she wants to live at his place. Out of the blue???

This episode is so heartwarming that I grinned till the very end. It made us realize that even the things we thought could not be fixed could have a solution if we gave it a proper chance. The power of heartfelt communication was also displayed in the episode. Thanks to the team's tenacity, they ended up throwing a continuation party instead of a divorce ceremony; can we expect that for other couples? Well, we will find out in the coming episodes.

Hopefully, they get to launch their product in the coming episode instead of fighting around meeting various unending standards so they can beat Jeong Shin to it. I understand this might not happen soon since that's the main plot, but who knows?
