The ink drips smartly over here. Let me take you through the world of my imagination while riding on the letters😎 It's all fun in this corner.
We are back to the suspenseful scene episode 8 ended with. The team member gets angry at the declaration. Na Rae ignores them and tries to leave, but Jeon Man blocks her, and their gazes linger for some seconds before she moves back to explain the reason. The order is from the Vice President, who wants them to pull out of the implementation since a similar product and policy is also on the verge of launching by Best General Insurance; he has definitely shaken hands with Devlish Jeong Shin.
Han Deul comes clean about meeting Jeong Shin but doesn’t drop any information, and Ah Young concludes their product is a joke because they possibly cannot fly through all the stages that the team is still trying to gather and request launching approval. Jeon Man adds to the tension and accuses someone of feeding their information to Best General Insurance, but Na Rae cuts him off, saying the audit team will look into it. As Han Deul and Ki Jun walk home, she states that the case has a connection with the FSS complaint—it took them a while to figure out.
The next day, Jeong Shin makes a call to cut all loose ends, while Dae Bok distributes tasks for the members since the approval is still on hold, so they can find a way around it. The audit team shows up to take Han Deul for a data leak from her computer, putting her under more suspicion. Meanwhile, Na Rae blocks the Vice President at the underground parking lot and asks that they revoke their competitor’s product. He slams her for her original plan of stealing employees’ amazing products and taking them to China to advance her career—now we understand their shady cooperation in episode 3.
Unknown to them, Jeon Man is listening in on the conversation from the side. His phone almost gives him out, but he manages to take care of it. The Vice President tells her to stop dwelling on the product and create another team that will develop a new product. A look of displeasure is on her face, and he asks whether her heart belongs to the team; this she denies flatly, disappointing Jeon Man further.
Back at the office, every effort to get access to Han Deul’s computer and footage proves futile since they need an executive’s approval, leaving the team frustrated. Ah Young suggests Na Rae, and Ki Jun rushes to her, but she tells him to wait for the result of the audit team and get ready to go back to his team. He counters that she doesn’t mean it because she knows she’s the only one who can save their team, putting her in a bind. Jeon Man waits nervously to see if Na Rae will redeem herself through the approval, but Ki Jun comes back with depressing news, disappointing him once again. Na Rae begins her investigation, and she realizes something shocking from Han Deul's access record.
Han Deul comes back with suspension news, putting the team in more distress. Na Rae’s investigation leads her to check the hallway CCTV, and the Vice President’s underling is right on camera. Voilà! The timing matches that of the leakage period, and the security officer reveals that only the outside director and the Vice President have access to employees’ ID numbers, confirming her suspicions.
She decides to visit the Vice President, but changes her mind when Jeon Man’s message to see her comes in. He tells her his childhood story and his bad eyesight, telling her to make a choice that doesn’t lead to something worse—a sweet way to give her another chance. She catches on, and he reveals his disappointment in her real self, but she defends herself, saying her cruel words are only to cover her real intention, which she cannot reveal for now. He tells her not to reveal them and assumes he already knows everything, so she can feel less guilty, standing in the position of An Jeong Man and not Mr. An.
On their way home, Ki Jun tries to cheer Han Deul up, asking her to eat, but her mother’s text comes in. He insists on driving her there after several rejections, only for her mother to ignore his cheerful greeting. On getting inside, her father ignores all her greetings and gestures, playing his games instead, and her mom queries her about divorcing her ex-husband because of a boyfriend. She asks about her relationship with Ki Jun, and Han Deul calls him a work colleague; the mother still insists on acting right, so people don’t talk about her with the recent divorce—it looks like the divorce is the problem here.
Her mom tells her to bring him to the next family gathering, but she refuses, stating he’s no longer family and the father coughs. Her mother tells her she shouldn’t bother to come if he doesn’t follow her, and she reveals she has no intention of coming since her parents think her divorce is a shame.
The mother flares up at her declaration, and she slams them for being nonchalant about her well-being, which only angers them more, making them ask what Su In did for her to divorce him like that. She gave the struggling to live with him answer but her mother goes feral about how it is the same for everyone—poor Han Deul. She outright asks her mother if she’s happy with putting up with the struggles, leaving the woman speechless. She rushes out to find Ki Jun still waiting for her at the corner of the house. He says they should leave because it’s cold, and she happily agrees.
The next day at the office, Na Rae marches into the Vice President’s room with the evidence, and he asks if she has forgotten that they are on the same team. She denies that because their goals are different, and he threatens to reveal what she’s doing behind the scenes while the team is working hard. Unhinged, he tells her to keep her mouth shut and stay still, flinging the papers in the air. Stubborn Na Rae spills hot coffee on his leg over the table and walks out with her shoes stained, too.
She remembers the memories with the team, ignoring Jeon Man’s call as she cries in the convenience store; he manages to find her and sits silently while she bawls her eyes out. Back in the office, Han Deul packs up to leave for her suspension. Na Rae and Jeon Man walk in, and she calls for a meeting. She brings the terms and conditions out, all written in Chinese, and reveals their plan to launch it at the Chinese branch first.
Na Rae confesses that she suggested they use a task force computer to send the terms and conditions out to China so it can look natural, apologizing to Han Deul personally and to everyone. Ki Jun asks for her reason for coming out now, and she states her intention to rectify everything before it’s too late. Han Deul thanks her for coming out clean, even though it’s difficult, easing the tension. She brings out her access records and states they have to prove her absence in those times—it looks like they are going to become detectives once again.
It happens to be the continuous ceremony day at Gorange Village, and Woong Shik sends a picture with a timestamp of the day and time, giving them solid proof. The next is finding out the relationship between the Vice President and his underling. Finally, we get to see that the underlying is Oh Jeong Do, Mr. Pink, who once tackled them at the presentation in the beginning. Mr. Na sends Ki Jun and Jeon Man to his house while calling people to find out his location, only to find out his home address is fake—sneaky underling indeed.
They finally find his whereabouts, and he runs away, but they catch him and manage to persuade him to drop the evidence. Meanwhile, Na Rae meets with Jeong Shin and tells her to back off from the product, but she shrugs it off. The smirk gets erased with the call recording from the Vice President telling Yeong Do to send an email to Jeong Shin’s personal mail and delete it, just to plant evidence.
Na Rae pushes her to the corner more by listing the charges she will be facing if she doesn’t pull out immediately. Devilish Jeong Shin calls the Vice President to a meeting and bounces in happily until he sees Na Rae sitting there, too. She cuts off the deal mercilessly and leaves the room, leaving them to face it off.
From threatening to go down with her, he kneels to beg her to let it slide just this once, but she coldly walks away. The audit team shows up to arrest him as she walks back to the office, where she runs into Jeon Man, who has been calling her frantically, in the elevator. He praises her and holds her hand to offer support. In the office, the team celebrates the president’s approval and clocks out immediately.
Ki Jun and Han Deul head out to get good food, and he takes her to her apartment, which he has decorated beautifully with Christmas lights. She blushes at its pretty look as he prepares dinner for her. She tells him about her parents’ embarrassment about her divorce. The next day, the team kicks off their work with a pizza session. They pause to worry about Na Rae, who is not in the office, and Jeon Man remembers her talking about being alone the previous day.
Their happiness gets cut short as the FSS official who attended to their complaint about the divorce ceremony walks in to demand a divorce; they are back to work. He said he’s in a sham marriage with his wife. Ki Jun and Ah Young rush out to meet an influencer who ends up being his wife as Han Deul talks to him. They reveal she doesn’t want a divorce, and they get hopeful until Han Deul declares the divorce must hold; another obstacle.
This episode has a different feeling from the hilarious episodes so far. The baring of Na Rae was pretty quick, and her relationship with Jeon Man wasn’t messy even with the truth being revealed.
Everything got resolved quickly, as devilish Jeong Shin wasn’t too obsessed with the product and backed out, and we are back on track with the launching process. I look forward to seeing what this new divorce case will hold and how the team will resolve it, given they are on different sides.
