Annyeong, Hamkkeclan! Welcome back to Hamkke's chat room, home of K-culture lovers!
Today, we have a fabulous guest who is also a K-fan, and let her tell her awesome story and love for everything Korean. Itās all about K-dramas, K-pop and, of course, life, and we couldnāt be more excited to meet Enny .
Letās dive in!
Author: What made you attracted to Korean culture and how long have you been a fan?
Enny: Ah it began five years ago when I gave myself time to discover the Koreans and their traditions, I got very much familiar with their virtuous norms like respect for elders and family, respect for ancestors and practices like Confucianism and its sub virtues like being filial and benevolent. I was hooked! And then I discovered the media aspect.
Author: Really? Seems you have a different story from what I've heard. Most people either fell in love with K-pop or K-Drama first before other aspects.
Enny: Well, I could say you are right. However, when I discovered the media too, I was really amazed at their historical dramas, romance, and the fusion of both tradition and modern day. It had all the ingredients that go into making an interesting plot?
Author: What is your favorite K-Drama trope, and why?
Enny: āEnemies to Lovers tropeā I just love this sort of theme, the tension, the jokes, and of course, love interestsā¦ Always appreciated. And who doesnāt love a little āOverbearing CEOā or āHaters to Loversā theme?
Author: Well, nobody! Do you love K-pop?
Enny: Yes, I'm obsessed! Especially with BTS, the attention they pay to details in their music, their lyrics and their performances are so well analyzed. They really are worldwide wonders!
Author: You can say that again!
Author: Do you have any favorite Korean celebrity?
Enny: Absolutely! I used to follow the Bangtan Sonyeondan boys (BTS) band for several years. They are cute, have good characters, and are great people to emulate.
Author: Is there a particular member you like, especially or the most?
Enny: Nooo, you canāt do that to me.. Well, not exactly; I think I have a lot of love to go around.
Author: As a Nigerian K-enthusiast living in India, have you attended any K-pop concerts or events in Nigeria or abroad?
Enny: Nope, not yet! School is giving very little time for that, but I was planning to shift that policy soon.
Author: I hope you do and get to tell me about it soon .
Enny: No problem.. I will add it to my list of things to do.
Author: Did you ever watch reality television shows? If so, do you have a favorite one?
Enny: Guilty pleasure alert! For the moment, my favorite is perhaps āSingle's Inferno".
Author: Hmmm. What would you say about the Korean media and entertainment industry generally?
Enny: That is a big umbrella question but, considering the increase of K-content popularization, let me say the following few things. The entertainment industry of South Korea is on fire! If we talk more specifically about global recognition, letās not forget or about how Hallyu, the Korean Wave, brought K-pop, TV series, films, and even games to contemporary mass culture. When it comes to K-pop boy bands, and South Korean dramas such as Squid Game, and Parasite, nobody has anything to say
.
Author: Thank you so much, Enny, for sharing your great experience and point of view about this with us . It has been a wonderful experience interviewing you on Hamkkechats!
Enny: Thank you for having me! This was so much fun, and I am glad that I was able to share my story with you all .
That's a wrap, Hamkkeclan! We trust you liked Ennyās story, as well as her view of Korean culture, which is not traditional at all. If you ever want to discover more K-dramas, K-pop, or Korean food, today, you arenāt alone! See you next time in the return of Hamkkeās chat room for more fun discussions and all things about K-culture! Until then, saranghae, and weāll see you soon, all my Love!
