Honesty Series (4): K-Dramas I Almost Boycotted and Why

Honesty Series (4): K-Dramas I Almost Boycotted and Why - featured image

I am back again, no you can’t get sick of me, and yes, this honesty series is still breathing.

This time, it’s not about dramas I stopped or deliberately avoided. This one is about the dramas I almost boycotted completely, like for some reason, I didn’t want to watch, only for destiny or boredom to intervene.

As usual, don’t pitch your forks. This is my opinion and my opinion alone.

Mr. Queen

Interesting Kdramas To Watch

This drama? I judged it in every way and took every chance I had to skip it. When I first read the synopsis, my brain immediately misunderstood everything. I thought it was a BL or a transgender-centered story, and I just checked out.

Then one random day, boredom came knocking, and I had absolutely nothing to watch, so I thought of giving it a chance at least, to confirm my speculations, and just like that, I was hooked. Like, completely hooked. The humor, the acting, the chaos, the emotions, everything worked, and was just in the right place. If I had stuck to my assumptions, I would have missed out on something special.

Crash Landing on You

Interesting Kdrama To Watch

I skipped this drama more than once. I kept seeing it while searching for what to watch, and I kept postponing it for no clear reason, or maybe because the poster I saw at the time didn’t speak to me. Then one day, I came across a social media review and decided to finally give it a chance. From the first few episodes, I was gone because do I need to start explaining the honey the series carried to you? If I had truly boycotted this one, I would still be angry at myself till today.

Twenty-Five Twenty-One

Interesting Kdrama To Watch

Twenty-Five Twenty-One was one amazing drama, but I found it a little late and initially wanted to let it go. I mean, the hype had passed; the conversations were already over, and I felt like I missed the moment. But something kept nudging me. I finally watched it, and yeah, it was worth it. Even though the ending of the series wrecked me emotionally, it was still a worthy watch.

Jumong

Interesting Kdrama To Watch

This one comes with what I will call a family history. You already know it was my very first K-Drama ever. My family and I watched the first scene and immediately dropped it because it felt boring and unfamiliar. Don’t blame us because at that time, we didn’t even understand the Hallyu wave or what to expect from K-dramas yet, so we abandoned it and moved on. Then one day, someone mistakenly played it again, just out of curiosity, and that was how the mistake turned into a commitment. From that point on, my family made sure we watched Jumong till the very last episode, and it was worth every minute.

I Hear Your Voice

Interesting Kdrama To Watch

If you know me, you know I’m not the biggest fan of older-woman, younger-man romance, so I was already side-eyeing this one from afar. But the superpower trope and the male lead made me curious enough to give it the benefit of the doubt; thankfully, it paid off, and yeah, I was glad I didn’t miss it.

In case you are pissed with my list, let me end this by saying, you can’t watch all dramas, nor can you love all the ones you did, and honestly, that’s fine as well.

Now tell me. Which K-Drama did you almost boycott but ended up loving?
