If Historical Korean Kings Had TikTok Accounts

Since delulu is the solulu, imagine the mighty kings of Korea, the ones who shaped dynasties, created languages, and went to war, now sitting behind ring lights with “#ForYou” captions.

So throw the TikTok app down the memory lane, to the Joseon dynasty. If these rulers ever downloaded the app, the algorithm wouldn’t survive.

Here’s what it would look like if five legendary Korean kings had TikTok accounts.

King Sejong the Great

Korean Historical Kings

Tiktok Name: @HangulDaddy

Content: Educational skits and emotional “how I created Hangul” storytimes.

Comments section: A mix of crying emojis and scholars saying, “bestie changed literacy forever.

If King Sejong ever owned a TikTok account, his feed would be full of videos like “POV: I just invented a whole writing system because my people deserve better.” or “Get ready with me as I prepare to create the Hangul alphabets” Expect viral sounds featuring the sound of brushstrokes and motivational voiceovers like “When they said I couldn’t make learning accessible...so I did.” Every piece of content will go viral because if not, you wouldn’t be learning the Korean language right now.

King Yeonsangun

Korean Historical Kings

Tiktok Name: @DramaKingOfJoseon

Content: Unfiltered rants, reaction videos, and chaotic “story-time: how I exiled half my court” posts.

Comment Section: A mix of minor supporters and haters majorly. The king will always be there, going band for band, serving aura for aura and kimchi for kimchi.

This man was born for the TikTok drama (Bad enough that TikTok didn’t exist during his time, it would have been premium fun). He’d thrive on duets, calling out ministers in his comments, and posting cryptic captions like “Don’t cross me, I’ve done worse for less.” His live sessions? Full of chaos, tears, and maybe a few thrown scrolls. His account would be a mix of “villain era” aesthetics and “main character syndrome.” You’d hate to love him, but the views would go crazy. I mean, who does not like a good villain story?

King Jeongjo

Korean Historical Kings

Tiktok Name: (@SoftPowerMonarch)

Content: Smart, soft, and sentimental think “clean aesthetic” TikTok with poetic voiceovers about loyalty and reform.

Comment section: Would be full of “Sire, drop your skincare routine,” and “This is leadership.”

His page would feature emotional clips like “Restoring my grandfather’s honor, one policy at a time,” set to indie instrumentals. Maybe even the occasional thirst trap while he’s training with swords because, well, Jeongjo was that guy. He’s the kind of king who would go viral for accidentally starting a political reform trend.

King Taejo

Korean Historical Kings

Tiktok Name: @OGFounderEnergy

Content: “Story-time: How I Ended a Dynasty and Started a New One.”

Comment section: Full of “You are the Man of the People” and “Who does it better than you?”

The man who literally founded the Joseon Dynasty would definitely own the motivational side of TikTok. Expect posts like “5 tips for starting your own kingdom (literally)” or “POV: you overthrow Goryeo like it’s a walk in a park.” He’d also be the one stitching Gen Z videos saying “I can’t start over” with calm replies like “I did, and now it’s a 500-year-old dynasty.” He’s our life coach in a royal robe.

King Gwanghaegun

King Gwanghaegun

Tiktok Name @MisunderstoodKing

Content: Subtle flexes, emotional “I did what I had to do” edits, and maybe a few “they hated me ‘cause they ain’t me” sounds.

Comment section: Full of people rooting for him with “We believe you” Chants and some low-key enemies fighting others in the comments

History books didn’t treat him kindly, but TikTok would. He’d post clips of political betrayals and captions like “They called it madness, I called it strategy.” Every upload would have fans defending him in the comments like it’s a full-blown fandom war.

If these kings had TikTok, they’d rule the algorithm just like they ruled their courts. Some would teach, some would trend, and some would definitely get canceled and go live to apologize in royal hanbok and they will trend better than any influencer.

Which other Korean king deserves to be on his list, and why?
