If K-pop Idols and Nigerian Influencers Were Roommates

If K-pop Idols and Nigerian Influencers Were Roommates - featured image

You know those ideas that sound so genius in your head, but the moment you try to put them into action in real life, everything starts falling apart like the popular Nigerian Novel? Yeah, that’s exactly what will happen if K-pop idols and Nigerian influencers ever become roommates.

As your ever ready and unrelenting imagination guru, let me just tell you that this imagination will not just be fire but it will be chaotic with a big K.

Now, here’s what it will look like.

The Morning Routine War

Korean Vs Nollywood

Remember our Grim Reaper and Globin's never ending war in Guardian: The Lonely and Great God? Let’s just liken this war to that.

At exactly 5:00 a.m., the K-pop idols are awake, humming scales, stretching their souls, applying skincare products like their beauty depends on it and yes, it does. Meanwhile, the Nigerian influencer is there on their bed hissing out their head because “Who dey sing by this time?” They are not going to have it for anything and what comes next? The back and forth of how either of them have no right to talk to each other anyhow. The Korean idol is there trying to explain how their morning routine is paramount to their career and the Nigerian idol is busy mumbling something about “content planning.” One house, two entirely different mind zones.

The Content Creation War

Korean Vs Nollywood

When it’s time to film, the house basically turns into a war zone disguised as a studio. K-pop idols are trying to rehearse, color-coordinate outfits, and shoot multiple takes like they’re filming a music video. Nigerian influencers, on the other hand? They run on pure vibes and energy. While the latter is shouting “Annyeonghaseyo, guys, welcome to our channel!” The Nigerian influencer goes, “Wassup my people, una don show?!”

Sounds like war because someone wants a clean aesthetic while the other wants ring lights, noise, and chaotic hype.

The Great Bathroom Saga

Korean Vs Nollywood

This is where the original villain of the imagination comes in, because imagine each one trying to use the bathroom at the same time. K-pop idols need time to warm up their vocals, fix their hair, and go through the skincare Olympics. Influencers? They just need mirror space to record GRWM videos. I mean, what is a Nigerian influencer without the “Get Ready With Me” morning routine videos?

There's a queue, there is chaos, and there is a fight for dominance. Chaos for them, premium entertainment for us.

Food: The Ultimate Peace Treaty (and War Trigger)

Korean Vs Nollywood

Food time is when things become interesting. The Idols will pull out their meal-prepped chicken breast and cucumber salad as if they were at a health retreat (well, they are). The Nigerian influencer will come in with a plate of jollof rice, suya, and maybe puff-puff on the side (na belly fat I get, I no kill person. IYKYK). No one will speak a word, but everyone in that kitchen knows where the flavors are. Eventually, they’ll start doing the food swaps. The idols will start to learn how to deal with the pepper and the influencers will act as though the salad can’t compare, but it’s a cultural exchange with spice.

The Fashion Competition

Korean Vs Nollywood

If there is anything Korea and Nigeria are good at, it is fashion and how to make a statement with it. Trust me when they find themselves in the same room, no one is bowing to the other. K-pop idols dress like they’re stepping onto a comeback stage and trust Nigerian influencers pull up like it’s a fashion award all the time. At the end of the day, everyone is making a statement in their own way. Win-Win situation.

In the end, chaos wins, but so does culture because in all the noise, something beautiful will form. Each one will learn the way of the other and beyond the imagination. This is already happening, maybe not as roommates but as world mates.

If this house ever existed, do you think it will break the internet?
