“Our Unwritten Seoul” recently wrapped up the final episode and we had a lot of rollercoaster moments with the cast. The twin sisters, Mi Ji and Mi Rae, brought their different personalities to the table, coupled with other people around them. Everyone had their share of the national cake, and it was a heartwarming drama in general.

Yu Mi Ji, one of the twin sisters, is warm, brave, and real. Her personality and journey in the dramas have a lot to teach us about life lessons, and here are a few take-home lessons:

Be Patient with Yourself

Mi Ji used to be a great athlete, but after a leg injury, she lost her path. She stopped believing in herself and stayed home for three years due to agoraphobia, an anxiety disorder with the fear of being in public places, crowds, or situations. Mi Ji taught us that it’s okay to take time to heal; even when we feel stuck or broken, we can move forward step by step.

Love and Sacrifice Matter

Mi Ji chose to stay in her rural town to care for her grandmother after a stroke. She worked small jobs, gave up big dreams, and helped her family emotionally and financially. With this, she let us know that loving someone often requires sacrifices, and caring for loved ones makes us stronger and kinder.

Courage to Defend People

She bravely defended friends and strangers. For example, at a reunion, she confronted those gossiping about her family and also hit the boss who threatened Mi Rae in front of her apartment. This is a cue not to stay silent if you see injustice. A simple act of defense can inspire others and bring change.

Supporting Others Helps You Grow

When Mi Ji learned her twin sister Mi Rae was depressed, she stepped in and proposed they swap lives. She helped her out at work while Mi Rae healed in their hometown. This means helping someone else can also help you. By supporting Mi Rae, Mi Ji found new strength and purpose as she navigated the new life.

Overcoming Self-Blame

Mi Ji felt guilty about her grandmother’s illness and blamed herself for medical delays due to the shock she had when the incident happened. However, with Ho-soo’s support, she realized it wasn’t her fault. We often blame ourselves for things beyond our control. With care and love, we can let go and heal; it wasn’t our fault.

Discovering New Passions

During the twins’ life swap, Mi Ji finds joy in therapy. In the end, she chose to study psychology and become a therapist. It’s never too late to try something new. Sometimes unexpected choices bring us to our true paths.

Small Acts Have Big Power

Mi Ji showed kindness to Ms. Ro‑sa, a struggling restaurant owner. She went from fear of failure to doing small helpful deeds, building trust and friendship in the process. Even small acts of kindness can help someone heal, rewrite their stories, and strengthen bonds.

Mi Ji inspired us with her real emotions. She didn't pretend to be perfect. Her laughter, mistakes, pain, and courage were real. We can also borrow a leaf from her resilience. After losing her dreams and battling fear, she came back stronger. The most admirable trait was that she saw others’ pain and stepped in, even when she was hurting too.

Mi Ji’s character taught us to be brave and face our fears step by step. From her life, we can see how to care deeply and act kindly, forgive ourselves, and find new beginnings. She also taught us to help others and help ourselves by doing so.
