Why You Should See Confidence Queen: A Random Rant

I have been in a K-Drama slump for as long as I can remember because this is not the first time I’m talking about how most of 2025 K-dramas are not working the wonders I expect.
But guess who smashed that slump feeling? No other person than my personal heroine, Park Min Young. Seriously, I love how we’ve all come together as a community of K-enthusiasts to agree that Park Min Young has no bad dramas, and of course, the recently concluded Confidence Queen is not left out.
I have literally been waiting to see her again after the 2024 drama Marry My Husband, and bless the heart of whoever cast her in this.
Okay, okay, I got carried away. This isn’t only about Park Min Young, but also about the series Confidence Queen.
In case you’re skeptical about seeing the drama (since it didn’t get the hype it deserved), here are 5 reasons you should give it a chance.
Alert: Some spoilers here and there.
The Happy and Open Ending

Life is already hard enough, and I think the scriptwriter understood the assignment. They gave us less pressure and more happy moments, a good ending, and an open one that practically whispers “season 2.” And honestly, who’s complaining? Not me.
If you want a series that won’t have you on the edge of your seat every five minutes (side-eyeing Bon appétit, Your Majesty) or make you lose your cool with anxiousness, this one is for you. It’s a smooth, easy watch, and worth every second of your time.
The Fresh Storyline

Yes, seeing Park Min Young in action again was a big reason my K-Drama slump disappeared. But discrediting the fresh storyline would be an injustice. They stayed far away from the usual tired clichés, and it was honestly a breath of fresh air.
The plot gave a blend of Legend of the Blue Sea (con artist vibes) and Vincenzo, but with its own twist of uniqueness. It felt new, refreshing, and just right.
Proper Humor Spice

The humor in the series? Unmatched, top-notch, and natural. No unnecessary clowning or forced gags, especially during the scenes where they played different roles to bring down each target. The funny moments just flowed. It was lighthearted without being childish, and it balanced the serious parts so well.
The Unexpected Plot Twist

I know I said the storyline wasn’t too complicated, and I meant that. But that small twist they dropped? It hit just right. Not over the top, not confusing, just enough to make you smile from the heart.
Acting

The acting? Solid. Park Min Young did what she always does best, and that’s deliver. She carried the role with so much ease, as if it were made for her.
This was my first time seeing the two main supporting actors, and they didn’t fall short at all. They matched her energy and complemented her perfectly. Everyone played their part as they meant it, and it showed in how clean the scenes came together.
If you’ve been in a K-Drama slump like me, this might just be the one to pull you out. No chaos, no headache, just a good story with a satisfying ending.
So yes, this is your sign to watch it. And if they drop a season two? Just know I’m already in the front row.
