5 Most Misleading K-Drama Titles

There is no doubt that K-dramas have the most gripping titles. I mean, the sound of dramas like ‘My Demon’ ‘Crash Landing on You’ ‘My Roommate is a Gumiho’ ‘Marry My Husband’ and more will definitely draw your attention and before you know, you’re immersed in the drama.

However, there are some dramas which the titles are more of irony than literal meaning. What I mean by this is, the titles are saying something else, and the plot is going the other way.

If you still don’t understand what I am saying or you want to understand better, I compiled five of these dramas for you.

So here are 5 most misleading K-Drama titles, their synopsis, and what I have to say about them.

Let's see if I am right or wrong

Healer

Synopsis: An old murder incident involving a group who ran an illegal broadcasting station brings together different people.

First on my list is the series ‘Healer.’ Although that was the name of the main character, when you hear the word ‘Healer’ I feel the next thing that comes to mind is that the person is a supernatural being or the series is based on supernatural events that may include the use of magic, unusual abilities or mystic events.

Happiness

Synopsis: When an apartment complex becomes quarantined by the Military, its poor, lower-floor tenants and the wealthy, high-floor tenants come to clash as they struggle to survive the indefinite quarantine, all the while a newlywed police officer couple try to keep each other safe amidst the conflict.

With the title of this series, it can easily be described as ‘light at the end of a tunnel’ type of story. From the synopsis, it is obvious there’s definitely nothing to be happy about with the events of this series, or how happy can one get when they are busy struggling to survive?

Sweet Home

Synopsis: Happiness takes place in the near future, where the release of a failed treatment drug "Next" has caused a worldwide pandemic known as the Lytta Virus, a.k.a. "mad person disease".

Literally, sweet home means a home that is sweet, right? Why are we now dealing with zombies?

When I first came across the title of this series, I thought it would probably be about a struggling marriage or a family trying to protect each other or something that corresponds with sweetness and home.

Wonderful World

Synopsis: Psychology professor and writer Eun Soo Hyun's world shatters when her son suffers an unpunished injustice. Seeking vengeance, she unexpectedly discovers solace in helping others embroiled in comparable cryptic cases.

This series made it to my list because the story was sad, contrary to its title. I mean, there’s nothing wonderful about losing a child to the cold hands of death, suffering injustice, and still getting arrested in the end. This one was certainly off its title.

Itaewon Class

Synopsis: An ex-con opens a street bar in Itaewon, while also seeking revenge on the family who was responsible for his father's death.

To be honest, Itaewon Class was under its title, at least it involved Itaewon Street. However, when we think of the exact meaning of class, what we will think about is classroom rather than class system, but the series was still topnotch.

PS: This piece is not for the purpose of downgrading any of the series, or the effort put in them because we all can testify that even with the titles, the dramas were good and worthy of our time.

Which series tricked you with their ironic titles like these ones above? Drop them in the comments.
