5 unforgettable K-dramas that Made us Cry Out Loud

Take a seat, take the mic, let me ask you, one characteristic of an emotional K-Drama is what?

My header already gave me away, crying of course!

We all know some Korean series will almost make you cry your eyes out because of how emotional they can get.

Also, apart from the storyline, some actors interpret their roles so well that it takes you to delusion land for a few seconds and makes you think the scenario is truly true.

If you dig, then you'll definitely be familiar with these dramas I'm about to mention.

So here is a list of 5 K-dramas that made us bawl our eyes.

The Hymn of Death (true life story)

Synopsis: Kim Woo-Jin is a stage drama writer while Korea is under Japanese occupation. He is already married, but he falls in love with Yun Sim-deok. Yun Sim-Deok is the first Korean soprano. Kim Woo-Jin and Yun Sim-Deok's fates end tragically.

I have a thing for and against true event stories. I like them because they serve as an addition to knowledge. However, most of them rarely end well and come with a lot of emotions. I think this was the issue with most of the dramas on this list. Hymn of death had me crying because, after all the things the couples went through, it all ended in suicide.

Scarlet Heart Ryeo

Synopsis: When a total eclipse of the sun takes place, a 21st-century woman is transported back in time to the Goryeo Dynasty of Korea, in the body of a 16-year-old girl. There she witnesses love, rivalry, politics, and friendships ensue between the handsome princes, in a fight for the throne, friendship, and love.

To be very honest, I was almost traumatized after watching this series and because of this, I always make sure to know the ending of a K-Drama by reading the reviews before watching them.

I almost bawled my eyes while watching this series, especially when the court lady was killed unjustly. I just couldn’t hold it back.

Uncontrollably Fond

Synopsis: Shin Joon-young (Kim Woo-bin) and Noh Eul (Bae Suzy) were classmates who were separated during their teenage years because of an ill-fated relationship, but later met each other in adulthood.

It's still hard to choose the series that made us more emotional between this series and the one above.

In this series, to date, I'm still sad that Shin Joon-young died. I always wished they could have a happier ending but…. (Distant sobs)

Tomorrow

Synopsis: Choi Jun-woong (Rowoon) is a young job seeker who is unable to secure a job. Through an accident, he meets the grim reapers Koo Ryeon (Kim Hee-sun) and Lim Ryung Gu (Yoon Ji-on) who have the task of preventing suicide and works with them as the youngest contract worker in the crisis management team of death angels.

That we were warned about sensitive issues at the start of each episode of the series says how emotional this series was. If you've not watched this series, almost every suicide story and reason in this drama will make you cry, I promise.

Queen for Seven Days

Synopsis: Chae-Kyung, a noblewoman, marries the crown prince, who eventually becomes the king. After being a queen for only seven days, she turns into a victim of a conspiracy and gets expelled from the palace.

Here is another true story of the Joseon dynasty. Putting myself in this lady's shoes in the imaginary world is so cringy.

Okay! I'm out of the imaginary world, I definitely don't have the strength for such. Going from the highest point to the lowest point within seven days is not something anyone would love to experience.

Apart from that, actress Park Min Young completely aced this role. Her characterization was so good that you'll think it's real and before you know it, you already need tissues.

And here's the end of the list.

If you probably just experienced a heartbreak and you need an excuse for a good cry, you really need to try out these dramas.

Which of these dramas are you putting on your watchlist?
