6 Cast Members who Outdid Themselves in “Judge from Hell”

Finally! Some amazing supernatural, dark fantasy series to calm the nerves. I am definitely talking about “Judge from Hell.”

To think this was a script from a rookie writer “Jo Yi Soo” is not just surprising but commendable as she gave it her all and her wish of not being a stain on actress “Park Shin Hye’s” acting career really did come to pass and I am adding her to the list of writers to always look out for in the future because she knows her onions.

I have nothing else to say about these series other than how amazing it was, especially the casts who embodied their role and brought it to life like it was a piece of cake. I was truly amazed because some of them really outdid themselves in this series that they not only deserve an Oscar award, but if their skills were converted into a song, they deserve a Grammy Award.

Although every actor in this drama came with their A game, there are some of them that just keep surprising me because I have never seen them this good. So here are 4 actors from the drama that outdid themselves from the least to the best

Alert: Bits of spoilers

Kim In-kwon as Gu Man-do

The king of supporting roles really lived up to his name in this drama. Starring as the body that accommodated a demon named Valak (Justitia’s assistant from hell). I know the whole scene of him mimicking different voices might not be true as different voices can be used to fill in behind the scene but it is one thing to act like you are speaking like someone else but it is another thing to make it believable and that was exactly what he did. Aside from that, he just didn’t have any bad or boring scenes at all. Every time he appeared, it was a pleasant scene.

Kim Ah-young as Lee A-rong

If Kim Ah-young auditioned for the role of Bael or Lucifer, she definitely would have gotten one of the two. For a TV series rookie, she did an amazing job. It was always the swift change in her expression for me. One minute, she is laughing and being a loyal underling to Justitia and another minute she is showing us what it means to be a Venato sent to destroy humanized demons. She was just made for the role.

Lee Kyu-han as Jung Tae-gyu and Serial Killer J

If I didn’t know screenplays are scripted, I would have thought Lee Kyuhan was a serial killer for real (okay, I don’t mean that.) but he was too good at portraying this act. I mean, right from the start of the series, he was emitting this dark energy that you could tell something was wrong with him. He really got into character and what broke the camel’s back was the court hearing scene where everyone was busy crying and grieving their loved one whom he had killed and he didn’t even bat an eye in telling them he did them a favor. Knowing myself as an emotional wreck, I can never pull off that kind of act. Once the victim’s family starts crying, I will also join them in crying even though I am supposed to be the villain (lol.)

Kim Jae-young as Han Da-on

Kim Jae-young was another actor who gave a stellar performance in the series. I mean, he matched every energy Park Shin Hye was giving. His transition from a chaebol in “Love in Contract” to a detective in “Judge from Hell” is nothing short of amazing. His detective-demon lover role seems to be his best role so far and I think it’s time for him to transition into bigger lead roles because he really gave his best in this series.

Yang Kyung-won as Yang Seung Bin

Yang Kyung-won’s role in this series was definitely a minor one, but this man left me an unforgettable memory. I mean, what he is known for in series like Crash Landing on You, Vincenzo, and a lot more is his usual funny self, but the role he played in this drama had me surprised. I was literally glued to my screen all through the time he was displaying his split personality role, but to think all that was a charade to get out of the crime he committed? That I never expected. Another commendable thing was how he was switching between almost 4 personalities without confusing us (the viewers). Give him his flowers!

Park Shin Hye as Kang Bitna and Justitia

Finally, to the best of them all, my very own Park Shin Hye. This is unarguably her best role portrayal in a TV series. She brought her A-game to this series. I kept wondering to myself, is this the shy Park Shin Hye from series like The Heirs, Pinocchio, The Doctor, Doctor Slump, and the like? That fiery Park Shin Hye I saw in this series was totally my type. Saying she ate and left no crumbs is an understatement. In fact, she came to engrave her face and name in our hearts in a different way this time. I can’t wait to see the lineup of awards she will get for this.

Like I said earlier, every cast and crew of this series did a great job and to think the filming didn’t even take them a year. Just Daebak!

If you’ve seen this series, who was your best cast member? Mine was definitely my beloved Park Shin Hye.
