One of the few series I personally picked up without being convinced to (by anything) is the romance drama Brewing Love. Although it was not the best series of the year for me, picking it up was worth it. Brewing Love is a drama that tells the romance story of a brewing master with a super sensitive mind, and a sales queen at a liquor company known for her hardworking character who hides her emotions naturally.
Yes, Brewing Love sounds like the everyday normal romance drama we are used to. However, there is more to it. To go straight to the point, here is why I think you should watch this drama and the lessons you will learn.
For every worthy screenplay (movie or drama), the storyline is a major consideration, right? The plot of this drama is indeed a simple one, but it's a perfect blend (or should I say brew?) of romance and struggles and the balance between the two in the series is applaudable as it was able to infuse different tropes and cliches with the right balance and the needed attention for all.
Slow Burn Romance
If you are not a fan of cheeky romantic gestures in K-drama, then this drama was definitely made for you because it has no puke-worthy romantic scenes like most K-dramas. The romance was well-developed and given the time to blossom. It offers a slow-burn love story that will have you curious, and glued to your screen but also won’t leave you bored. Also, the second lead couple’s story was cute too, and it was a bonus romance.
Relatability
No matter your type of person, there is a cast situation to relate to in the series. Whether it’s the sensitive brewing master, the emotion-suppressing sales queen, the ever-laughing village members, the overly competitive director, the loveless second lead, or the traumatized second male lead, there is just someone with a relatable situation.
Great Casts
The casts of these series sure understood their assignment, and they passed. Everyone (especially mentioned above) complimented one another in their great role delivery, and it was amazing to see them work together to put a smile on how to face and make us relax. They made the series a perfect watch for relaxation.
Alert: Bits of Spoilers
Importance of Perseverance
The female lead had us rethinking the meaning of perseverance at some point. I mean, her hardworking spirit teaches that pursuing your passion requires resilience and determination. She had herself jumping from pillar to post, picking other people up, and pressing forward even when she wasn’t in a good mental health condition herself. However, she achieved her aim in the end.
Communication is Key
One thing that stood out (personally and generally) in the drama was the fact that there was never a misunderstanding among anyone, especially the lead couples, for too long. They took little to no time to discuss and settle whatever differences among them, and that shows the impact of communication.
Healing Takes Time
Many characters in the story were dealing with personal wounds, such as loss, betrayal, or self-doubt. The drama emphasizes that healing is a gradual process and often comes from unexpected sources, especially in the case of the lead couple and the second couple.
Support Systems Matter
The brew master once said you might think you need no one, but at last, you need someone to tell you, 'You are doing well'. Also, even without this statement, the importance of the support system was evident because the female lead only found her true self when she saw a support system in the male lead.
I think I have done enough convincing, right? Tell me, will you watch this series? And I will be expecting your comments when you are done watching.
