Drama Recap || My Dearest Nemesis Episode 11

Ju Yeon and Su Jeong’s love story is absolutely my favorite right now, and honestly, I am not even bothered by the side dramas anymore.

Recap

Before we pick up from where episode ten ended, we get a backstory. Ju Yeon and Secretary Kwon approach the chairwoman, and instead of politely presenting their case, they practically strong-arm her with the fact that the new director is involved in a fraud case. Not exactly great for the company’s reputation. The chairwoman, obviously furious, demands to know what Ju Yeon wants. He calmly asks for Su Jeong to be left alone and requests to be reinstated so he can complete his ongoing project. The chairwoman has no choice but to agree, though she throws in a brutal condition. If the project fails, he has to give up his assets and his name. No pressure at all. Seeing him on stage at the event later confirms he went all in for love.

Su Jeong meets up with him and, of course, demands to know how he handled the situation. He tells her everything except for that tiny little detail about his entire fortune being on the line. Everything seems to settle down as they walk into the company with the rest of the team. Everyone is thrilled to see Su Jeong again, and the office is buzzing with excitement, but in a hilarious turn of events, Ju Yeon swoops in and forces everyone into a team huddle. Nothing like an overly enthusiastic boss to kill the moment. During a team meeting, a team member presents project details and casually mentions Ju Yeon’s favorite cartoon. Panic mode activated. Ju Yeon immediately starts correcting minor details, trying way too hard to hide the fact that, yes, he is a full-grown man who loves cartoons. Back at their desks, the team is busy bombarding Su Jeong with relationship questions, and somehow, Ju Yeon gets roped into taking them all out for lunch. He treats them to steak, but of course, the conversation turns into an interrogation about his relationship, leading to an unexpected public display of affection. Embarrassing does not even begin to describe it.

Meanwhile, Shin Won is sitting at his desk, staring into space and battling a toothache. Just as tragic, some office staff are gossiping about Su Jeong, downplaying her hard work because, apparently, her achievements are suddenly irrelevant now that she is dating Ju Yeon. She walks in and shuts them down. But let’s be real: stopping office gossip is an impossible task. Later that night, Su Jeong finds Ju Yeon waiting at her desk. He pulls her into his arms, and they talk about the cartoon they chose for the project. He finally opens up about how that same cartoon was his escape when his parents passed away. Of course, he is terrified of people finding out about his love for it. Su Jeong reassures him before playfully kicking him out of her seat. Somewhere else, Ha Jin is on a bus scrolling through comments, all dominated by Shin Won’s, and it is painfully obvious that she misses him. Everyone is working hard for the success of the project, and before we know it, Su Jeong and Ju Yeon are in a meeting when Shin Won joins them. He asks if Su Jeong is okay with all the rumors going around. She reassures him, but Ju Yeon notices that Shin Won is not looking too great. He asks about it, but instead of answering, Shin Won teases him for suddenly acting like he cares. Their love-hate bromance continues.

Ju Yeon and Secretary Kwon step out into the parking lot where Su Jeong is waiting. The moment he sees her, his whole mood brightens. He goes to dismiss Secretary Kwon, but surprisingly, she throws a fit, claiming he looks happier with Su Jeong than he ever did with her. The audacity. They all laugh it off, and Secretary Kwon leaves after thanking Su Jeong for making her job easier. Who knew she had a comedic side? Later, Ha Jin serves Su Jeong and Ju Yeon at her bar. Shin Won comes up in conversation, and when Su Jeong asks if something is wrong, Ha Jin is sad, talking about trust issues from her past. Su Jeong comforts her and drops the fact that wanting to trust someone means you love them. Ju Yeon is listening, and that little comment definitely makes him smile. After dropping Su Jeong off, Ju Yeon heads back to work. She is slightly confused, but she lets him go. She is busy counting down to project execution day while Ju Yeon is pulling all-nighters to make sure everything goes perfectly. The next morning, Su Jeong is surprised to see Shin Won at work early, and when she asks why, he throws Ju Yeon under the bus, revealing that he made him come in early. Su Jeong starts getting suspicious and asks Secretary Kwon, who spills everything. Furious, she storms off to confront Ju Yeon. He apologizes and explains that he just wants her work to be recognized. He also admits that he wants her to acknowledge him. To soften the mood, he leads her to a piano and reminds her of how she once mentioned wanting to learn. A sweet moment follows, sealed with a kiss.

Ha Jin is once again reminded of Shin Won when a customer randomly asks about him. Meanwhile, back at the office, a team member invites Su Jeong to lunch with others as usual, but she declines, saying she has a meeting. Jokingly, he asks if she is being scouted for another company in the US. She laughs it off, but in a surprising twist, the person she is meeting is, in fact, scouting her. The woman bluntly tells her that no matter what, people will always see her as Ju Yeon’s girlfriend rather than acknowledging her own success. Su Jeong insists on focusing on her current project, but they agree to talk again afterward. Ju Yeon later saves a child from getting hurt by hot soup, but because this is drama land, it somehow turns into a scandal. People misunderstand the situation, hate comments flood in, and partners start pulling out of the project. Secretary Kwon tries to handle it, while Ju Yeon orders her to find the person who posted the video. Even Su Jeong receives a call from a major partner canceling. But Ju Yeon has a plan. In his office, he makes an anonymous call, introducing himself as Black Dragon, while Su Jeong heads out. A Japanese man, the cartoon creator, and a woman are seated in a private restaurant, waiting for a mysterious sponsor known only as Black Dragon. The woman steps out, and Ju Yeon enters. Speaking in Japanese, Ju Yeon talks about how his favorite cartoon is that of the man. The creator also goes on to thank him for his sponsors before surprisingly asking if he is Ban Ju Yeon. A surprised Ju Yeon asks how he knows this, and it is revealed that Su Jeong met the man before the meeting and told him about his Ju Yeon who is a passionate fan of his. Later, Ju Yeon finds Su Jeong at home and tells her the creator has agreed to work with them again. She is thrilled and tries to downplay her role, but he thanks her sincerely. Looking gloomy, he mentions how he wants her to rely on him, but she reminds him that they promised to rely on one another. Later, while she’s asleep, he receives a call that it was the former director who was behind the scandal.

The next day, the scandal dies down, and the team is relieved. Ju Yeon walks in with even more good news. Meanwhile, Shin Won finally sees a dentist and learns he has a wisdom tooth. On his way home, he bumps into Ha Jin. She apologizes, hoping for a second chance, but a hurt Shin Won turns her down, fearing another heartbreak. Tears everywhere. Finally, the big event arrives. Ju Yeon surprises everyone by openly admitting his love for cartoons. The chairwoman arrives just in time to hear his speech and storms off. In the corridor, Ju Yeon finally stands up to her and tells her how he worked hard and kept the things he loved a secret just to be loved by her, but he no longer desires that life or the successor position and just wants to be himself, living happily. Stating the success of the project, he asks her to keep to her promise about Su Jeong, adding that she could fire him and walks away, leaving her speechless. At the event, paparazzi ambush Su Jeong with intrusive questions. Ju Yeon steps in to save her, like the knight in shining armor he is. At home, Su Jeong sees comments labeling her as just a chaebol’s girlfriend, and Ju Yeon gets an update from Secretary Kwon. Later, he picks her up for a walk, and though they talk about everything else, they finally address the harassment. Then, out of nowhere, Ju Yeon tells her she can leave the company if she wants to. And just like that, episode eleven ends.

Honestly, I do not even need the next episode. This is already a happy ending for me. But I see Shin Won and Ha Jin fixing things, Su Jeong leaving the company, and the chairwoman finally coming around. Either way, I am calling it now. It is a happy ending.
