Drama Recap || My Dearest Nemesis Episode 8

In the last episode, Su Jeong agreed to be Ju Yeon’s biggest secret. What happens next? Let’s dive into Episode 8.

Recap

The episode begins with Ju Yeon walking Su Jeong home. Both look happy and shy. Su Jeong reluctantly turns to leave but suddenly asks if they can talk elsewhere, not in front of her house. Ju Yeon happily agrees, and they start walking. During their stroll, Ju Yeon hesitates to hold her hand, but Su Jeong takes the initiative and grabs it. She asks what he plans to do with the items she’s keeping for him, and he tells her to hold onto them since the chairwoman might suspect him if he stores them under his name. They return to her house, but Ju Yeon says he also has something to ask her, leading to another walk. During this second walk, the hide-and-seek game finally starts as Su Jeong keeps hiding at the slightest movement, making it hard for them to talk. Ju Yeon subtly tells her she’s overdoing it, and they head back. Before leaving, Ju Yeon gives her a sign as a goodbye. Later, Su Jeong wonders what the sign means and gets her answer when Ju Yeon texts her, explaining it means "I love you." Blushing, she sends him a picture of herself making the same sign, making him laugh.

At Ha Jin’s bar, a customer hits on her, but she boldly shuts him down. Meanwhile, Shin Won is at an event where he unfollows Ha Jin on Instagram, wondering if he’ll ever see her again. Ha Jin arrives at the same event and assures some ladies discussing her divorce that she’s doing fine. Although Ha Jin and Shin Won don’t meet at this scene, they later run into each other on the rooftop. Ha Jin opens up about her ex cheating on her after ten years together and how she’s truly moved on. They share a heartfelt moment, and Ha Jin asks if he wants to sleep with her again. Shin Won reminds her of her promise not to date him, but she kisses him, saying he has to date her now since he reciprocated. Back at Su Jeong’s house, Ju Yeon stands outside, looking happy. Su Jeong greets him with equal enthusiasm, but their moment is interrupted when her father sees them. Panicking, they claim Ju Yeon is there to pick up a document. Her father seems skeptical but dismisses it, calling Ju Yeon a workaholic like Su Jeong. He tells her to take Ju Yeon to her room, which leads to the attic. While they try to continue their conversation, her father interrupts again, forcing Ju Yeon to enter the attic and even talk to a doll momentarily. Later, Ju Yeon uses the restroom, but Su Jeong’s brother barges in, urgently needing to use the restroom, and sends him out. At the table, her father apologizes for the faulty lock, but her brother comes and makes things awkward, eventually driving Ju Yeon away. After he leaves, Su Jeong’s brother reveals he knows about their relationship and warns her about the risks, but she denies it.

Ju Yeon is seen at a Tart restaurant, and it is revealed he is there with Secretary Kwon to get a package for the client they are meeting. Before the meeting, he asks why she helped him the other day despite her loyalty to the chairwoman. She replies that she wasn’t helping him, but ensuring their schedule wasn’t delayed. She adds that she sees the chairwoman in him and hopes he doesn’t disappoint her again. Ju Yeon promises to do better before the client arrives. Cut to Shin Won and Ha Jin. Shin Won asks her why she changed her mind to date him, and she says she doesn’t want to complicate things since they both like each other. Ju Yeon is in his closet getting ready for work, while Su Jeong is on the street on her way to work; both of them are on a call with one another while promising to keep their avoidance game intact in order not to arouse suspicion but guess who sees each other at the lobby and instinctively waves at one another? Yes, the lovebirds, In the elevator with other team members, Ju Yeon is trying to hold hands, and Su Jeong is putting him in his place when a team member asks about Su Jeong’s blind date and even goes ahead to analyze the kind of man that would suit her when they arrive at the office. The description is completely opposite of Ju Yeon’s personality, which sends him into rage mode since he's hanging around to hear what they are saying and Su Jeong is left feeling uneasy. The team member is seen in Ju Yeon’s office in the next scene with a load of work, obviously as punishment for running his mouth (petty man!)

Su Jeong and Ju Yeon secretly talk at the photocopier, but when colleagues almost catch them, Su Jeong scolds Ju Yeon for not knowing how to use the copier, making her colleague wonder if she’s being harsh again. On the rooftop, Su Jeong yells at Ju Yeon when employees approach, hurting his feelings. He sulks, telling her she’s too good at improvising, asking if she gets angry because he’s not older or her type. She explains her first love was younger. She asks to make it up to him and lists some things which he rejects and tells her he will inform her when he thinks of something and she cheekily tells him he can’t ask for a kiss. When she tries to walk away, he holds her back and pecks her on the cheek, leaving her flustered before he walks away.

At her desk, Su Jeong receives a message from Ju Yeon asking her to memorize his favorite comic characters. She quickly does so, making him laugh and blush in the elevator, almost getting caught by Secretary Kwon. Later, at Ha Jin’s bar, Ha Jin announces she’s dating Shin Won. Su Jeong warns her about his player reputation, but Shin Won arrives and joins them., Ha Jin asks about Su Jeong’s situation with Ju Yeon and if they have a special relationship which she denies, and Shin Won and Ha Jin make it their job to describe how Ju Yeon is only compatible with someone with a personality completely opposite of Su Jeong (payback time, right?). As Su Jeong leaves, she receives a call from Ju Yeon, whose contact she saved as "other half," and they plan a date. However, later, she overhears people discussing Ju Yeon as the group’s successor on the bus, reminding her to be careful.

In a general team meeting with Ju Yeon, a member of another team teases the Sunbaenim, implying that Su Jeong does all the work in the team, just as things are about to get complicated, Ju Yeon steps in and dismisses them. Just as Su Jeong is packing up, she receives a message from him telling her he likes her, and that is exactly what he wanted to say but held back. The Sunbaenim stays back to accuse her of sleeping with Ju Yeon and seducing him because he is the successor since she’s the only one who receives nice comments from him. Su Jeong puts her in her place again and walks off. Ju Yeon prepares for their date, initially wearing a rock band outfit but changing into a suit in case they get caught. Su Jeong surprises him with matching outfits and a face cap, and they enjoy a date by the river. Ju Yeon feels bad they can’t go to a proper restaurant, but Su Jeong reassures him she prefers this because they can hold hands freely. They sit to listen to a song which turns out to be the song they both liked in the past. Su Jeong talks about how she used to like the song and Ju Yeon asks if it has to do with her first love, which she affirms. He tells her the past is gone and she should like the song again.

Cut to a scene where Ju Yeon is at a restaurant smiling at the pictures they took together when Shin Won comes in and almost catches him, then asks if he’s seeing someone. He doesn’t deny it and when Shin Won asks if the person is pretty; he goes into a blushing frenzy and keeps repeating how pretty she is, giving Shin Won nostalgic goosebumps and he asks Ju Yeon if it is Su Jeong. Although Ju Yeon tries to deny it, his reaction sells him out, leaving Shin Won petrified. Inside Ju Yeon’s office, Su Jeong is there to give him a report, but he counters her with how far he has gone with the project and flirts with her in the process. He asks about when she started liking him and even makes her sit and record it as a memo on his watch. While Su Jeong leaves the office, Secretary Kwon notices the long report but dismisses her suspicions.

Shin Won tells Ha Jin about Ju Yeon and Su Jeong’s relationship. They’re both worried but decide not to interfere since Ju Yeon seems genuinely happy. Meanwhile, Ju Yeon and Su Jeong miss each other while he’s away for work. He calls her, using a comic book as an excuse to see her. Su Jeong goes up into the attic to find the comic book and Ju Yeon is seen parking outside her house. He quickly runs to meet her when he sees her standing outside. Ju Yeon holds up a key chain she found in his stuff, meanwhile, the key chain is the one he had on when he confessed his love to her as a kid in the past, Just as he is about to ask her why she’s holding it, she pops the big question asking him if he’s black dragon and here comes our end for the episode and the week.

My Dearest Nemesis My Dearest Nemesis

I knew we were getting our big reveal at the end of this episode, so that was not a surprise. However, for episode 9, I am expecting some complicated issues, maybe a break from one another or even a breakup. I see Ha Jin and Shin Won in the most awkward situation as well because I am sure Su Jeong particularly won’t let this go, but we have to wait and see, so see you next week!
