Hi Hamkkeclan! Itās so exciting to tell you that we just finished a marathon in the kitchen and the result is this scrumptious dish we are about to give you. On that note, welcome to the Hamkkeās Chat Room!!
In this chat room, we intend to bring together Korean enthusiasts to tell us about their various Korean experiences based on all things Korean! (*Whispers*, you inclusive š)
Itās the first edition, so letās start with something light, shall we? Today, we bring you three newbie K-Drama watchers who just entered the K-Drama world not quite long ago, so we decided to welcome them š.
In this chat room, we have LaQueenšø, Abigael š©, and Gbemiskyš©āš¦±, and they will be answering questions we have prepared for them. I canāt be the only one whoās so excited to do this!
Letās get right in.
Q: When exactly or approximately did you start watching K-dramas, and based on this answer, would you consider yourself a K-drama newbie, intermediate, or addict?
Laqueen: I started watching K-dramas like 3 to 5 years ago but itās always been on and off and I resumed recently. Iāll say I am still a newbie, not yet a K-Drama freak. Lol. But if it has a great storyline, count me inš«².
Gbemisky: For me, my love for K-dramas started in 2016, but I was not really into it until 2021, so I can probably call myself an addicted newbie, can Iš?
Abigael: If I should say precisely, I started watching K-dramas in 2017 and itās been an addictive journey so far. However, compared to some peopleās knowledge and watch list, I am a newbie, but I will call myself an addict in my own wayš¤·āāļø.
Q: Which drama was your first, and what can you say about it?
Laqueen: I canāt say precisely, but my first drama should be āJumongā and because itās been so long, I canāt say much about it. However, one thing I remember vividly was that I stopped watching it in Season 4. The storyline was becoming too long and confusing for my newbie self and I did not have the patience to continue š, but I think itās a nice series.
Gbemisky: I canāt remember what my first Korean series was because my love for K-dramas was not love at first sight and I have watched several of them but one of my favorites is Crazy Love. I loved the fact that an angry and seemingly wicked boss transformed into Mr Loverš.
Abigael: My first Korean series was āBoy Over Flowers.šā The Gun Jun-pyo syndrome had me falling in love! It was so nice that it sealed my love for everything K-Dramaš.
Q: How did you become a K-Drama lover?
Laqueen: Am I a K-Drama lover? š š I am not sure, but letās say it's between Yes and No because there was this girl who recently rekindled my love for K-dramas that I find myself watching them in my spare time š«.
Gbemisky: Like I said earlier, my love for K-dramas was not love at first sightš«¢, so falling in love with K-drama happened because I was trying to kill boredom by watching a lot of them and then I ended up always wanting more.
Abigael: Loving K-dramas started by watching my first series. I donāt think thereās anyone who watched āBoys Over Flowersā that wonāt fall in love with it or love K-dramas generally
(Author: Yeah, right!š¤)
Q: Do you consider K-dramas time-worthy or time-consumingš?
Laqueen: Uhhh, I canāt say precisely since naturally, I am the type of person who watches movies to relaxš¤·āāļø. This means I only watch dramas when I have time. But yeah, I still canāt do long series because I rarely have the luxury. So letās say yes and no againš¶āāļø.
Gbemisky: K-dramas? They are both time-worthy and time-consuming š¤§. Time-worthy because of all the fun that comes with it, however, it can be time-consuming when I find myself watching K-dramas when I am supposed to be working or sleeping.
(Author: The One More Episode Syndrome š„“š„“).
Abigael: K-dramas are definitely time-worthy š». Although it consumes time and leaves me lazy most of the time, it is always an amazing moment for me whenever I am watching an amazing seriesš.
Q: Finally, do you have a favorite actor and actress yet? If your answer is yes, who are they and why?
Laqueen: Gosh! I am bad with namesš. Iāve never tried to know their names because my teeth fit removeš. But I like the lead actor and actress in āBusiness Proposalā. Did the same actress feature in Crash Landing on You? š„ŗ
Thereās another actor though, but I canāt remember the series he featured in. Also, letās not forget about Vincenzo, please! š(Author: Song Joong Kiš) That guy is so foiinnnneeeeeš letās not lie. Thereās no other reason I like them aside the fact that they are handsome and look perfect in all of their seriesš¤·āāļø
Gbemisky: Yes, I have a favorite actress. The lady in Crazy Love (Krystal Jungš¼). I love her acting zeal, and I think she was the one in Knight Flower, too. And Vincenzo
(Author: Let me say this in pidgin 'Song Joong Ki don suffer for all of una hand'š¹š¹)
Abigael: I seriously donāt have a particular favorite, I love them all, just feature in a K-Drama as the lead and you are already the love of my life but if I am going to choose precisely, I will go with Song Joong Ki.
(Author: Anyone with that Oppaās contact line? He should come for these newbiesš).
Would you rate each of our newbies on a scale of 1-10?š„ŗ
