K-Dramas That Deserve a Nigerian Remake and Who Should Star in Them

Hey Nigerian Korean lovers, I am here for you again, and this time with the most ridiculously enjoyable idea.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but some K-dramas are already halfway to Nollywood Movies. They have everything from betrayals to family pressures, toxic in-laws, and every other thing you can think of. All that we need to do now is swap hanboks for agbadas and call it a day.
So yes, if Nollywood ever wakes up and decides to remake K-dramas, here are the ones that would EAT and the Nigerian actors that should definitely make the cast list and closing credits.
PS: If you are not familiar with Nollywood generally, this might not work for you.
The Penthouse → Lagos Heights

If you tell me The Penthouse K-Drama is not already set in Lekki, I will respectfully disagree. Rich people misbehaving, everyone holding onto a secret like their life depends on it, children fighting generational wars they did not start? Please! If that is not screaming Nollywood drama, what is?
Cast it like this:
Sola Sobowale is the terrifying queen of the estate who will definitely get her job done with or without a script. Funke Akindele as the ambitious mother who starts off “managing” and ends up running the whole place, and Bimbo Ademoye as the soft-looking girl who turns out to be the most dangerous person in the room. We all know that’s already like a walk in the park for these people. Just get your popcorn and enjoy.
Crash Landing on You → Accidentally Married in Cotonou

Let’s use a cliche storyline. A rich Lagos babe is kidnapped and accidentally crosses borders and is forced to marry a disciplined, no-nonsense man in another country, who didn’t know she was kidnapped in the first place, and then he helps her find her parents and returns to her country with her. Nollywood has been warming up for this for the longest time.
Cast it like this:
Osas Ighadoro is the soft-but-strong heiress who has never trekked a day in her life.
Stan Nze is the calm, principled man who does not laugh unnecessarily but will risk everything for love. We can cast Sanyeri, Okele, Atoribewu, and Golugo as the 4 musketeers working for Star Nze (what in the name of God am I doing right now? I don’t know too 🤣🤣😂😂)
Marry My Husband → If I See You in My Next Life

This one already screams Nigerian remake. There’s betrayal, cheating, a best friend's fake sympathy, and divine second chances. We have our Nollywood premium. In fact, Netflix and Prime Video will be begging to be on this.
Cast it like this:
Beverly Naya is the woman who comes back sharper, hotter, and emotionally unavailable.
Toni Tones is the friend who smiles too much while brewing evil for coffee.
Kunle Remi will be the calm, rich man who has always known the truth, but waited for the timing to strike and show he can protect his love interest with everything he has.
Vincenzo → The Angry Barrister

A stylish, morally flexible man returning home to fight corruption? Nollywood would chew this to the last stick.
Cast it like this:
Daniel Etim Effiong is the quiet but dangerous lead who used to belong to a cult group but wants a new beginning.
Nancy Isime is the lawyer who works for the other side until they killed her sister, and she said, “not anymore.”
Lateef Adedimeji is the villain who thinks he has power until he meets the real madness that Daniel Etim will show him.
If Nollywood ever made this decision, I am anticipating this one, like it’s 1 billion dollars.
Let’s be honest, Nollywood and K-dramas are cousins, so if one day you hear “Based on the Korean series…” in a Nigerian trailer, don’t panic. Just grab popcorn.
Now tell me, which K-Drama should Nollywood remake next, and who are you casting? I’m ready to argue respectfully.
