Kim Yoon-Ji might not ring a bell, but Jung So-min sure does or will ‘Naksu’ be better?
Actress Jung So Min is in the spotlight again for her amazing role in the drama ‘Love Next Door’ but this is not the first time we have fallen in love with her because she has always been our sweetheart, especially with her role in ‘Alchemy of Souls.’
Jung So Min is a 35-year-old actress born on the 16th of March 1989 (I am no longer surprised by their ages compared with looks. I hope you are not too. LOL). She debuted in 2010 by appearing in the series ‘Bad Guy’ in a supporting role and also the female lead in ‘Playful Kiss’ after that.
If you are a Jung So Min lover, here are 5 of her series you should not miss.
Synopsis: Socially awkward IT employee Nam Se-hee (Lee Min-ki) and broke, homeless writer Yoon Ji-ho (Jung So-min) agree to a marriage of convenience by signing a contract of two years, wherein they agree to the terms and conditions of only being landlord and tenant, sharing their home based on common goals and values
In ‘Because This Is My First Life,’ Jung So Min played the role of an assistant screenwriter and she had to move out of the home she shares with her brother when he married his pregnant girlfriend. She mistakenly cohabits with a man whom she thinks is a female while he thinks she is a male. Although I won’t rate this as her best, she did well in the series.
Synopsis: This 2018 Korean drama revolves around Kim Moo-young - a complex, mysterious man with a forgotten past. He meets and falls in love with Yoo Jin-kang, and although her initial impression of him is pretty negative, later she discovers that Moo-young is innocent and struggling to remember his past life.
In this series, Jung So-min characterized Yoo Jin-Kang (The lead) who is an advertisement designer while a homicide detective as an older brother. She lost her parents in an accident when she was young and had a different painful experience while growing up.
Synopsis: "Soul Mechanic" follows psychiatrists as they try to cure people of their emotional wounds. Lee Shi-Joon (Shin Ha-Kyun) is a psychiatrist at a hospital. He is passionate about his work and helping his patients. Han Woo-Joo (Jung So-Min) is a rising star as a musical actress.
Soul Mechanic is one amazing medical drama that deals with people and their past trauma. The series is good because the leads did justice to their roles, especially Jung So-min, who played the role of a musical rising star with terrible anger management issues.
Synopsis: Set in a fictional country called Daeho, it is about the love and growth of young mages as they overcome their twisted fates due to a forbidden magic spell known as the "alchemy of souls", which allows souls to switch bodies.
For me, Alchemy of Souls remains her best work yet. In this series she is our Mu-deok turned Naksu (after the alchemy of soul spell) and ends up falling in love with a man from a noble family. This series made her one of my best actresses. She really ate her role.
Synopsis: Love Next Door is a story about a woman who wants to change her life that she doesn't like and a mother's friend's son who knows too well about her shameful childhood.
Finally, 'Love Next Door,' her most recent work gained global attention and even received high ratings in the first weeks of airing. In this series, where she was the female lead again, she worked as a product manager of a global conglomerate. She suddenly breaks down one day and returns to her hometown to restart her life.
I think Jung So Min is somewhat underrated because why are we not praising her talents enough like we do to others? If you’ve watched Alchemy of Souls by now (which is likely), you should know what I am talking about. What do you think about her talents and which of her series would you rate the highest?
