K-dramas that will Excite your Inner Lawyer or Judge

One perk of being a Korean enthusiast is that you get to see and experience another world that includes different beliefs, lessons, professions, and more, from your point of view.

I mean, apart from the fact that you get to experience Korean culture by watching and listening to all things Korean-related, the added advantage is that you can experience another profession you are not even into, thanks to K-Drama especially.

In this piece, let’s look at the K-Drama world from a legal angle, shall we?

Here are 5 K-dramas that will make you feel and think like a judge or a lawyer.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo

Synopsis: Extraordinary Attorney Woo tells the story of Woo Young-woo, an autistic lawyer who is raised by her single father. She grows up with one friend at school, Dong Geu-ra-mi, an oddball girl who protects her from school bullies. She graduated at the top of her law school class at Seoul National University.

This series was both hilarious and emotional. It shows the struggle of autistic people and how they cope with society. If you are passionate about creating awareness for people living with autism, you want to watch this series. Drifting away from the emotional part, have you ever seen a person tagged ‘different’ doing extraordinary things so-called normal people can’t do? The world of extraordinary Attorney Woo Young Woo (Whether read straight or flipped) will amaze you.

Juvenile Justice

Synopsis: A judge who is infamously known for her dislike towards juveniles becomes the newly appointed judge of a juvenile court in the Yeonhwa District. A victim of juvenile crime in her youth, she faces various cases involving juvenile delinquents and other youths, which helps her discover what it truly means to be an adult.

Juvenile justice was relatable, fascinating, realistic, and emotional.

I mean, being plunged into a world you hate where you see all sorts of events was not an easy feat for the protagonist (Judge) but in the end, the series explains the importance of paying attention to young ones as adults and the consequences of each person’s action for the young ones.

Another emotional, legal series you should see!

May it Please the Court

Synopsis: An ace attorney is forced to work as a public defender for a year, and her new colleague has a completely different outlook on life and law. Despite fighting like cats and dogs, they must work together on a serial murder case and learn to trust each other.

May it please the court (What if it does not please the court? Well, that’s not the bottom line... *zips mouth) is a story that reminded me of why I fell in love with K-dramas in the first place. I mean the whole serial murder unraveling thing just works for me.

This series is definitely underrated, like so much! Speaking of good acting skills, I am giving it to the leads. Also, unlike some K-dramas with boring court scenes, you won’t find this drama amidst them.

This is so unpredictable that it will have you on the edge of your seat throughout.

Lawless Lawyer

Synopsis: The series follows characters Bong Sang-pil and Ha Jae-yi who form the Lawless Law Firm. Sang-pil, a former gangster turned lawyer, seeks to avenge his mother and fight against those with absolute power. He often resorts to using his fists and loopholes in the law to achieve his goals.

A lawyer who neglects the law? (Sounds like something I could do if I was a lawyer)

Although I have my reservations over some scenes, this series definitely killed the show in terms of plotline and the ending was just what I wanted.

Military Prosecutor Doberman

Synopsis: Military Prosecutor Doberman tells the story of Do Bae-man (Ahn Bo-hyun), who initially became a military prosecutor for money and fame where he looks forward to his retirement day, as well as Cha Woo-in (Jo Bo-ah), who was born into a chaebol family and who subsequently became a military prosecutor for revenge.

This was a legal K-Drama mixed with military action and I love it!

The twists and turns of the drama were great and the cast. Everyone ate and left no crumbs. If you are the type who wants action-filled drama with little or no romance, you don’t want to miss this.

Which of these series have you watched, which will you pick as the best and what are you watching next? Eagerly waiting to read your comments below.
