T. sapphire is a writer who found her love for the Hallyu wave after watching the historical drama āJumong.ā She is mainly interested in Korean dramas and the history of Korea at large. Explore her pieces as she takes you on a journey through K-Drama recommendations and keeps you informed about the history of the Korean people.
K-dramas come with many tropes, genres, and even themes, so I won't bore you with that again.
Although, I understand that our K-Drama preferences are different amidst all these tropes, genres, and themes. While some people might prefer crime, thrillers, mysteries, and more, others might prefer just romance series and rom-coms. However, if you prefer dramas based on Supernatural events, where the different powers on display bring you all the fun, then this list is definitely for you.
Here are 5 K-Dramas based on supernatural events that should be on your watchlist already. And if they are not on your watchlist yet, you know the drill.
Synopsis: The series centers on the titular character So Mun, a high school student with a disability who is enlisted to be part of the Counters, a group of paranormal hunters who search for and fight against evil spirits that escape from the afterlife to prey on humans.
Thereās no way you haven't watched this popular and amazing series. Apart from the mind-blowing supernatural powers in this series, the storyline will have you on the edge of your seat in both seasons. If youāve not seen this (which is very unlikely), you need to do that right away.
Synopsis: The drama is a fantasy romance that features an elite hotelier who becomes the manager of Hotel Del Luna, a mystical hotel that only caters to spirits at night, after stumbling upon a fateful event.
Do you wanna see some scary and even funny ghosts real quick? If you just said yes, then āHotel del Lunaā is the right series for you. You can thank me for recommending this later.
Synopsis: The quiet lives of three high school students with genetic superhuman abilities turn upside down when a mysterious organization starts to hunt them down one by one
To be honest, this is my favorite series on this list, probably because itās the latest one amidst this series list. However, I specifically love the backdrop more than the storyline itself. The series gives insight into how far parents can go to protect their children at the expense of their own life.
Synopsis: It follows the story of an elite warrior named Nak-su, whose soul is accidentally trapped inside the weak body of Mu-deok. She becomes entangled with Jang Uk, who is from a noble family, becomes his servant and master, and teaches Uk her skills as they both fall in love with each other.
You need to see me having a good laugh before writing this particular line. Thatās because Nigerians did a great deal of things with the series, from hilariously changing the name to making memes of it and a lot more. This was certainly one popular Sageuk that was on everyoneās lips for a very long time, and when I say everyone, I mean both K-Drama lovers and non-drama lovers alike. The storyline and the acting in this series were top-notch.
Synopsis: A Nine-Tailed Fox who has lived for over 1000 years is given the role of eradicating supernatural beings who threaten the mortal world.
This will be my second favorite supernatural series. It was humorous, entertaining, and educational. The use of supernatural powers was also moderate and eye-catching and, of course, the characters ate their bread with no crumbs. Thumbs up to them for real.
Although there have been a lot of supernatural K-dramas over the years, these can pass for the best there are in my opinion. What do you think? Am I right or am I right?
Also, Indulge me in the comments, do you think thereās any other series that should be on this list?
