Drama Recap || My Dearest Nemesis - Episode 6

Su Jeong and Ju Yeon’s kiss in the last episode is everything I need to be excited and also skeptical about this episode. What will come next? Come with me.

Recap

Episode six begins with Su Jeong lying in bed, unable to sleep as she replays the kiss she shared with Ju Yeon in her mind. She overthinks every detail, questioning why he kissed her and what it means. Her mind drifts to past moments, piecing together the signs that Ju Yeon might have liked her all along. Morning arrives, but Su Jeong is still lost in thought. She wonders when Ju Yeon started liking her and why he kissed her without confessing first.

Later, she runs into Ju Yeon outside, and their encounter is awkward, especially for her. Ju Yeon acts normal, but Su Jeong’s inner monologue reveals her turmoil. She is convinced that he likes her and wonders about his next move. Ju Yeon suggests they take a walk, and her imagination runs wild. She speculates whether he is about to confess. As they walk, she over analyzes everything, from his words to his actions. They arrive at a spring, and Su Jeong expects a romantic moment, but Ju Yeon merely drinks from it and offers her some water. She is disappointed but tries to hide it. When she nearly falls, Ju Yeon catches her, and for a moment, they lock eyes. However, the moment is broken when Ju Yeon makes an awkward remark to ease the tension. He walks away, leaving Su Jeong alone with her thoughts.

As Su Jeong and Ju Yeon prepare to leave the CEO’s place, Su Jeong thanks her for agreeing to work with them. Su Jeong is still trying to keep Ju Yeon's identity a secret, but the CEO reveals that she already knows he is the grandson of the company’s chairwoman. This revelation surprises Su Jeong, and she tries to cover up the awkwardness. A flashback shows Ju Yeon giving the CEO two bottles of water from the spring and expressing concern for her well-being. He suggests she let her subordinates handle the heavy lifting. The CEO teases him, asking if he is trying to butter her up for the contract. Ju Yeon denies this, and the flashback reveals that this was when he told the CEO his true identity, offering her a deal for a collaboration. The CEO sends them off with drinks and snacks, and they leave in Ju Yeon’s car.

During the drive, Su Jeong asks Ju Yeon how he came up with his suggestion to the CEO. Ju Yeon reveals that she inspired him. The conversation stalls, and an awkward silence fills the car. Ju Yeon eventually brings up the previous night, catching Su Jeong off guard. She wonders if he is about to confess, but he asks if she wants to listen to music. She agrees, though she is disappointed. When they reach her house, Ju Yeon steps out and tells Su Jeong to go inside. However, Su Jeong stops him, asking if he really plans to leave like that. Ju Yeon claims he forgot something, and instead of confessing, he hands her the gift from the CEO and says he will see her on Monday. Frustrated, Su Jeong demands to know if he is just going to pretend nothing happened. Ju Yeon dismisses it as a drunken mistake. Su Jeong appears to accept this, but her words are filled with hurt and anger. Su Jeong walks away, leaving him standing outside. It seems like Ju Yeon is toying with her feelings, but his true intentions remain unclear.

At home, Su Jeong is still fuming and Ju Yeon recalls waking up drunk at the table, with no memory of the kiss. He wonders why Su Jeong is angry with him when he should be the one upset that she left him alone (now we know better). Later, Su Jeong keeps throwing fits at home, startling her father with her frustration. That night, both she and Ju Yeon lie awake. She calls him, furious that he can sleep so easily. However, Ju Yeon reveals that he does not remember the kiss and is instead upset that she abandoned him. Shocked, Su Jeong realizes that Ju Yeon has no recollection of their moment. The call ends, leaving Su Jeong reeling. The next morning, Ju Yeon works out at the gym and showers while repeatedly questioning why Su Jeong does not see him as a man. In the elevator, he randomly asks Secretary Kwon how she started seeing her husband romantically. She is surprised but answers him. Ju Yeon insists he possesses these qualities, but Secretary Kwon does not understand his point. She tries to ask if something happened, but he brushes it off as a professional question. Later, at the store, Ju Yeon checks his reflection in front of a mirror, causing his team to be confused.

To impress Su Jeong, Ju Yeon treats the team to an exclusive hotel buffet. Everyone is excited, but Su Jeong eats alone. The troublesome Sunbaenim approaches and talks about Ju Yeon’s strict personality and how he does not date. She implies that Su Jeong might be trying to climb the social ladder by associating with him. Su Jeong insists Ju Yeon is just her boss, and she has never considered him romantically. However, Ju Yeon overhears the conversation. He interrupts, stating that as a strategic team manager, Su Jeong lacks creativity but can consider him as a potential partner. Su Jeong is shocked and confused by his words. Later, while in the washroom, Ha Jin calls Su Jeong and immediately asks if something happened between her and Ju Yeon. Su Jeong denies it, badmouthing him. Ha Jin, relieved, offers to set her up on a blind date. Before Su Jeong can respond, Ha Jin makes the arrangements. Meanwhile, Ha Jin’s mother, on the other end, teases her about going on a blind date herself, mentioning her immaturity and divorce.

My Dearest Nemesis- Workplace

Back at the office, Su Jeong exits the bathroom when a team member loudly asks if she is going on a blind date. Ju Yeon overhears and looks visibly unsettled. He asks if it is true, but before she can answer, Secretary Kwon informs him that his grandmother is looking for him. Before leaving, Ju Yeon tells Su Jeong to wait for him before heading out. While returning from his grandmother’s place, Secretary Kwon tells Ju Yeon that she has decided to announce him as her successor. Ju Yeon returns to his office and reflects on his interactions with Su Jeong. Realizing he has been caught up in “silly things,” he decides to refocus on work. Meanwhile, Su Jeong talks to a team member about her situation. He tells her that a man forgetting a kiss is a cliché and likely a lie. Encouraged by this, Su Jeong gains confidence and enters Ju Yeon’s office. Ju Yeon looks indifferent, but she boldly asks if he is concerned about her blind date.

My Dearest Nemesis-Su Jeong

Ju Yeon dismisses Su Jeong’s concerns, saying his personal life is none of her business as her boss. Su Jeong calls him out, saying he is not being honest since he came to her house to warn her about Shin Won. Ju Yeon reveals that he called her to warn her about "players" because he was just being nice. Su Jeong looks disappointed while Ju Yeon changes the subject. Su Jeong forces a smile, saying she is happy, but she is clearly feeling sad and lonely. Su Jeong quickly exits.

Ju Yeon

Su Jeong returns home, angry and frustrated. She sees the stuffed doll and comic book Ju Yeon gave her, reminding her of the night he warned her about "players." She decides to confront him but imagines accusing him of kissing her while drunk before knocking. Ju Yeon steps out before she knocks, so she returns the comic book and gives him money, saying she does not like comics and he can consider it rental money. She insults his taste, saying it is childish and no wonder his first love dumped him. Ju Yeon pulls her hand, returns the money, and says he does not want money from someone who does not understand its value. He also criticizes her taste, saying she was scammed by her first love. Furious, Su Jeong throws the money away and rants to herself in her car. Still fuming, Su Jeong calls Ha Jin and agrees to the blind date Ha Jin suggested earlier. Ha Jin shares the news with Shin Won at her bar, and they celebrate, relieved that Su Jeong is moving on from Ju Yeon. Ha Jin asks why he keeps visiting her at the bar. Shin Won says he hopes to gain "brownie points" with her. Ha Jin reminds him that she rejected his confession, saying she thought he was cooler. The conversation turns awkward when Ha Jin says their past encounter was comfortable and that she could sleep with him again, but not three times, implying it would feel too committed. Shin Won looks hurt but forces a smile.

Su Jeong and Ju Yeon

On his way home, Shin Won runs into his ex-girlfriend, who tries to win him back. He dismisses her. Back home, he sees a notification that Ha Jin posted on Instagram. Just as he is about to click on it, he reminds himself he will let go of Ha Jin. Meanwhile, Su Jeong arrives at the restaurant for her blind date. They exchange introductions, and he offers her a seat. She apologizes for being late, but he brushes it off, saying three minutes is nothing. Despite being on a blind date, Su Jeong thinks about Ju Yeon. When her date offers to order lobster pasta, she remembers Ju Yeon taking her and a team member to a lobster buffet.

My Dearest Nemesis- Blind date

Meanwhile, Ju Yeon is in his game room, trying to read and listen to music, but he is distracted by memories of Su Jeong. He recalls her words about him getting rejected for reading comic books, their conversation about her blind date, and their time together at the farm. In a meeting, Ju Yeon and Su Jeong discuss business with team members, but their conversation is strained. The other team members exchange uncomfortable glances, sensing the tension. Ju Yeon and Su Jeong abruptly end the meeting and leave, making the others uneasy.

My Dearest Nemesis- Workplace

Cut to a scene where Ju Yeon is leaving with his grandmother, the chairwoman when Su Jeong’s blind date calls her and waves. Ju Yeon watches before his grandmother calls his attention. The scene shifts to an event where Ju Yeon is honored for his charitable donations to orphanages. After receiving the award, he sits with his grandmother, a business associate, and the associate’s son. The associate praises Ju Yeon as a great successor, but the chairwoman corrects him, saying only her deceased son has that right. She emphasizes that Ju Yeon is only her grandson, and, while doing well, she plans to hire a management specialist. Ju Yeon looks hurt but remains silent. The associate’s son mocks Ju Yeon, but the chairwoman continues, saying she wants to introduce Ju Yeon to the media because of his good work. However, she makes it clear she is presenting him as her grandson, not her successor, and warns him to be mindful of his behavior in public. Ju Yeon stands alone with a glass of wine when the associate’s son approaches to mock him again. Ju Yeon calmly shuts him down, splashing wine on him and saying his grandmother taught him how to "squash" people like him. Meanwhile, Su Jeong and her blind date are getting along well. They discuss various topics over dinner. Later, he asks if she will help him pick out new clothes, and she agrees.

my dearest nemesis- Ju Yeon

Ju Yeon is at his favorite rock club, trying to distract himself before his grandmother presents him to the media. However, he is not enjoying himself. As he leaves, he overhears someone saying they do not see someone as a man. This triggers a flashback to when Su Jeong told Ha Jin she does not see Ju Yeon as a man. Ju Yeon remembers how he started drinking more after hearing that, which led to him getting drunk and recalling their kiss. He is shocked to realize it was his first kiss. Meanwhile, Su Jeong is helping her blind date pick out clothes. While he is distracted, someone pulls her into a dressing room and locks the door. It is Ju Yeon, still dressed in his rock attire. Su Jeong panics, telling him that he should not be seen like this and that he is trying too hard to hide his true self. Ju Yeon surprises her by revealing he remembers everything, including their kiss, which was his first. Su Jeong is left speechless. Before they can process the situation, someone tries to open the dressing room door, sending them into a panic. Ju Yeon’s image and reputation are at risk, and they know his grandmother will not be pleased, and that is our end for the episode and the week.

For episode 7, Ju Yeon and Su Jeong will likely work things out and grow closer while displaying their affection. If my predictions are correct, the truth about their past encounter will be the climax of the series.

I hope the next episode has more intentional romantic scenes. If that is what we will get, I cannot wait to watch. See you then!
