If Korean Celebrities were Disney Characters (Tangled Edition)

If you ask me, I would say my most favorite Disney movie was ‘Cinderella’ because who does not like a ‘grass to grace’ story? And after that comes ‘Tangled.’ So since we’ve done Cinderella already, let’s do Tangled. I think I did really well with my casting of Korean celebrities in the much-loved Cinderella story, right? Now, let’s cast them into ‘Tangled’

Here’s a quick story of Tangled in case you are not familiar with it: Rapunzel has been locked away in a tower her whole life, but when the handsome thief, Flynn Rider, arrives, she sees her chance to fulfill her dream of visiting the mysterious floating lights.

So here goes the casting:

Jun Ji Hyun as Rapunzel

I definitely chose both leads from the series ‘Legend of the Blue Sea.’ Yes, yes, I know if we think about it literally, the theme fits that of another Disney movie ‘The Little Mermaid.’ However, the storyline fits perfectly for Tangled. Jun Ji Hyun will be the perfect cast for this role because Rapunzel has healing powers through her hair, and Jun Ji Hyun could provide a fortune through her tears. Also, just the way Rapunzel left her habitat and followed Flynn Rider, Jun Ji Hyun left hers to follow Lee Min Ho all the way to Seoul. Tell me how that’s not perfect!

Lee Min Ho as Flynn Rider

If you still don’t agree with me, tell me why Lee Min Ho was a con man in the series ‘Legend of the Blue Sea’ and Flynn Rider was a thief. Like, what’s the difference? Another similarity between the series and the movie is how they both used their all to protect their love interest. Any other perfect fit? Let me know in the comments.

Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook as the Stabbington brothers

Tell me a K-Drama bromance that is more scrum-delicious than that of Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook in ‘Goblin,’ like I am waiting! But I am going to say categorically that there is none, they can only try. They are both mischievous and smart, just like the Stabbington brothers. However, now that I think about it, won’t it be a disaster of mischief having this duo and Lee Min Ho in a movie or series?

Yes, Yes, I know your oppas are more handsome than this. (Laughs in 'I won't change it').

Son Seong-yoon as Mother Gothel

I know I can refer to Son Seong-yoon’s appearance in ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim’ as a Cameo appearance, but her character as a child kidnapper fits too much for Mother Gothel who stole Rapunzel from her parents at a young age. Just the way she committed suicide in the series, Mother Gothel also fell to her own death by virtue of her own handiwork, right?

Lee Hee-joon as Maximus

Let’s pick another character from ‘Legend of the Blue Sea.’ Lee Hee-Joon, who was Lee Min-Ho’s con artist friend. Although Maximus in Tangled was a horse, he had the same personality as Maximus who did bad things for a while but later changed and saved Rapunzel and Flynn. Lee Hee-Joon also had the intention of selling Jun Ji Hyun at first when he found out her identity, and even though she thought she had erased his memory forever, he decided to let go when he regained his memory for his friend. In contrast to the saying ‘The calm before the storm,’ these two characters were ‘The storm before the calm’, don’t you think?

Of course, no physical resemblance. However, if we are to make use of an actual horse, Lee Min Ho's horse with the same name 'Maximus' in King Eternal Monarch will not be so bad.

I’m hyped to say these were another flawless Korean celebrity fitting, right? Well, that’s either a yes or a yes.

I will be eager to hear what you think about this casting in the comments!
