As a Korean enthusiast in Nigeria, I must confess that one of the most tiring things is being in the same air with a non-Korean lover because they want to downgrade your love for all things Korean every time. (More reason to become serious about traveling to Korea, by the way)
However, to be honest, we Nigerian Korean enthusiasts can be extra most times (blame it on delulu) because if we are not, almost all male Korean celebrities won’t be on the hate list of most Nigerian men, right?
I feel if we give Nigerian men a genie lamp, the first of their three wishes will be for us to stop loving these Korean men because of the way we show our love for Korean men unapologetically. (but who cares? They can never get a genie lamp, can they)?
Although I won’t be able to mention all the Korean men on the hate list of Nigerian men because of us (Nigerian girls), these 5 will top the list and take executive positions each.
Don’t tell me you were not expecting him to be the first person on this list. I mean, Lee Min Ho is practically the president of these people!
From the days of 'Boys over Flowers', he totally stole the hearts of Nigerian girls. I mean, he ate and left no crumbs.
You'll hear a Nigerian man say, "Once your girlfriend is a K-Drama fan, just know that you're the second boyfriend and Lee Min Ho is the first."
*Unapologetic Laughter* (the earlier you know, the better!)
And as if that was not enough, while going through my feed some days ago, I saw a Nigerian content creator make a lengthy video on why Lee Min Ho Oppa should be canceled in Nigeria.
(that Oppa has come to stay. Deal with it guys)
Personally. I feel my future Oppa will have Lee Dong Wook Oppa (Ahjussi, to be precise) to contend with and I am sure I am not the only one on this table, right?
Even though this Ahjussi debuted in 1999, it is no surprise that he is still one of the most loved Korean actors to date.
From his hit series in 2005 ‘My Girl’ to other of his series feature like ‘Hotel King’ ‘Blade Man’ ‘Goblin’ ‘Tale of the Nine-tailed’ and more he has left no stone unturned (and even our hearts) to prove that he is worthy of all the love he gets.
From the way I have seen most Nigerian Korean Enthusiast (ladies of course) drool over this Ahjussi, he is definitely on this hate list we are talking about. And to be honest, why not? I mean, look at that beauty!
There is no way BTS members are escaping this list, especially Jungkook and Taehyung.
I mean, these people have not only garnered ‘ARMIES’ for themselves in Asia alone but all over the world, including Nigeria (I mean, is that not why you are here?)
The fame of BTS in Nigeria is so immeasurable that there are yearly events to celebrate BTS even in their absence and let’s not even talk about how packed the event will be. (you know I am not wrong and that’s why you are smiling)
As a Nigerian boyfriend with an ARMY girlfriend, you either become an ‘ARMY’ yourself or risk losing your partner anytime, period!
Let’s talk about how Cha Eun Woo Oppa used his handsome face (in K-dramas) and cool voice (in K-pop) to get us to adore him so much.
Although he is a member of the boy band ‘Astro,’ he is arguably the most popular and most loved member.
Talking about his fame in Nigeria, I think he is surely one of those Korean men in competition with Nigerian men.
At first, Kim So Hyun Oppa wouldn’t have made it to this list but a quick look at the love he received after his recent drama ‘Queen of Tears’ made me realize Oppa has been rivals with Nigerian men from the days of ‘Dream High’ and ‘Moon Embracing the Sun.’
The love is so massive and just like we all know; we don’t just love these Oppas; they are automatically our crushes, which means our real Oppas stand no chance against them (and the power of our Delulu).
From what I saw in the last few days after the airing of ‘Queen of Tears,’ Kim Soo Hyun really deserves to be on this list.
Let me ask, as a Korean enthusiast in Nigeria, which of these Oppas is definitely on the hate list of your real Oppa?
And which other Korean celebrities should be on this list? Tell me in the comments!
